In her new docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, Demi gathered close friends and family to help her share the traumatic story of her near-fatal overdose, and we've learned more about her mother, Dianna De La Garza. Demi almost lost her life in July 2018, after she overdosed on a mixture of drugs in her home. She had serious health problems due to the overdose, including three strokes, a heart attack, and brain damage. Two years later, Demi still has health issues stemming from the incident. She can no longer drive due to blind spots in her vision.

The night of her overdose, Demi was out with friends. Within the group was her former choreographer and good friend Dani Vitale. Dani was celebrating her 28th birthday that night. Later on, the group went back to Demi's house to hang out. Although she begged friends to spend the night, her pals went their separate ways. Not long after her friends left, Demi called her drug dealer. Dani later received numerous death threats, as Demi's devoted fans blamed Lovato's overdose on her. In the docuseries, Demi gave Dani the opportunity to tell her side of the story.

The morning Demi was found and rushed to the hospital, her mom Dianna received a phone call revealing the news. Dianna is currently 59 years of age. She was born and raised in Texas, as was her daughter, Demi. She married Demi's father Patrick Lovato in 1984. The couple was married for four years before they had their first daughter, Dallas. Four years later, the couple welcomed their second child Demi. The future celebrity was only two years old when her parents got a divorce. One year after the divorce, Dianna married Eddie De La Garza. She is still married to him. Dianna and Eddie share one child together, Demi's younger sister Madison De La Garza.

When Dianna was younger, she was an actress and a country singer. In the past, Demi has said that her musical inspiration actually came from her mom. Before she was married and had kids, back in 1982, Dianna was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Dianna wrote the book, "Falling With Wings." In her book, she opened up about her own experiences with eating disorders, addiction, and abuse. Dianna shared how she worked through these issues while parenting her three daughters. Dianna has discussed the same things while conducting parenting seminars all over the world.

In the released episodes of the docuseries, Dianna looked distraught as she recalled the details of Demi's overdose.
