The official Daisy Jones & The Six trailer reveals Prime Video's epic rock drama. The upcoming Fleetwood Mac-inspired series is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which follows the titular rock band on their rise to superstardom in the 1970s and eventual dramatic breakup right in the middle of their whirlwind success. The 10-episode series stars Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Nabiyah Be, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, and Tom Wright, and is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 3.

Today, Prime Video unveiled the official trailer for Daisy Jones & the Six, sharing a look at the documentary-style story of how a band's breakup made them more legendary than their music ever could.

The trailer introduces a quick glimpse at each of the characters that will take center stage in the rock drama, though Keough's Daisy Jones is understandably given the most attention. It also reveals snatches of the original songs that will populate the series, including a "Go Your Own Way" style breakup ballad that will be a portent of things to come.

Everything We Know About Daisy Jones & the Six

The band mugs for the camera in Daisy Jones and the Six

Daisy Jones & The Six is a hotly anticipated drama that is poised to fill the void left by last year's popular Hulu series Pam & Tommy, which told a similar story of celebrity gossip (though instead of being fictionalized, that series was directly based on the real-life figures it depicted: Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee). The show was created by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the writing partners who penned the 2009 rom-com (500) Days of Summer. It is also executive produced by Reese Witherspoon through her company Hello Sunshine, which prioritizes stories by and about women.

While the plot of the series will be familiar to fans of the novel (which was also a selection of Reese's book club like the star's previous production Where the Crawdads Sing), so far not much has been revealed on exactly how much the adaptation will change from the source material. However, the basic shape will remain the same, with the band members participating in an oral history of the problems surrounding their stardom. The story of the novel begins in the 1960s and follows Daisy entering the orbit of the band known as The Six just as band leader Billy Dunne (Claflin) finds out that his girlfriend Camila (Morrone) is pregnant.

The first five episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six will be directed by James Ponsoldt, who has previous television experience on series including Sorry for Your Loss. In addition to the main cast, the show will also feature an appearance by Justified star Timothy Olyphant. While it remains to be seen if the series can garner the same sort of audience that a genuine adaptation of the Fleetwood Mac story might have, this trailer shows that the creators of the series have the ability to capture the vibe of the music and the fashion of the time, which should appeal to fans of the band.
