Few characters in Game of Thrones could give a rousing speech like Daenerys Targaryen. The Mother of Dragons learned many things during her rise to power, including how to make impressive dragon entrances and how to give epic speeches capable of rallying armies. Throughout the series, Daenerys' powerful monologues resulted in her amassing unparalleled power and becoming one of the strongest players in the game of thrones.

The Breaker of Chains wasn't immune to mistakes, however. Many of her speeches were inspiring bouts of passion, but some lacked her character's corresponding fire. Daenerys' best speeches might be some of the show's most quotable material, but other monologues made for even bigger blunders.

Best: Rallying The Unsullied

Daenerys Targaryen with the Unsullied Army

Daenerys embraces her royal status as Khaleesi in season 1 before continuing her path to power as the last heir of House Targaryen. Season 3 really sees the Mother of Dragons come into her own as a queen. Dany amasses an army with the Unsullied of Astapor before leading a revolution in Slaver's Bay.

The Targaryen queen tricks Kraznys mo Nakloz and takes the city in a shocking swerve. Her speech to the Unsullied remains one of her most powerful and results in the soldiers freely pledging themselves to her cause.

Worst: The Gates Of Qarth

A desperate Daenerys meets with the Thirteen at Qarth' gates during season 2's "Garden Of Bones." The Khaleesi tries to seek sanctuary from the Red Waste for her khalasar and newborn dragons. When the Thirteen reject them, the Targaryen queen threatens to burn their city in a last-ditch show of power.

Dany's Qarth speech holds none of the tact or grace as her declamation to the Unsullied. The Targaryen queen's attempt to intimidate the Thirteen only foreshadows the fiery fate of King's Landing in the final season.

Best: Addressing The People Of Meereen

The Mother of Dragons has time to perfect her epic speeches during her journey through Slaver's Bay, and she eventually arrives at Meereen with the Unsullied and the Second Sons in season 4's "Breaker Of Chains." True to form, the Targaryen queen gives another rousing monologue to the Meereenese people.

The Khaleesi's speech leads to the uprising of the slaves; the masters are subsequently killed, and Daenerys is crowned Queen of Meereen.

Worst: The Conqueror Of King's Landing

Daenerys Targaryen in King's Landing in Game of Thrones

Daenerys' character diverts drastically in season 8, from Breaker of Chains to Butcher of Cities. In one episode, Dany kills more people on-screen than any other character in the series. King's Landing is consumed with dragonfire in "The Bells" and the Targaryen queen succumbs to her family madness.

The Mother of Dragons' dark descent is further underscored by a chilling speech to her armies in the series finale. Daenerys declares war on the rest of the world, dissatisfied with conquering Westeros alone.

Best: Speech To The Dothraki

Daenerys returns to her roots during season 6. After fleeing Meereen on Drogon, the stranded queen is brought to Vaes Dothrak by Khal Moro. The Khaleesi soon turns the tables on the khals during "Book Of The Stranger" and assumes leadership of the Dothraki after emerging from the fire unscathed.

The Unburnt delivers another epic speech to her new khalasar during "Blood Of My Blood." Drogon returns to his mother at last, and the Targaryen queen takes advantage of the opportunity to rally her bloodriders on dragonback.

Worst: Better Than Cersei?

Daenerys and Tyrion

The Targaryen queen returns to Westeros in season 7 and wastes little time pursuing the Iron Throne. Tyrion advises against ambushing Cersei in the Red Keep. Instead, the Mother of Dragons makes an epic display of power by attacking the Lannister army with Drogon and the Dothraki.

Daenerys' long-awaited war in Westeros is followed with more of a sizzle than a bang. The fiery queen makes vague promises that she is not like Cersei, before giving the surviving soldiers a choice between alliance or death.

Best: First Speech To Her Khalasar

Daenerys Targaryen Drogon Birth

Dany's inexperience made her first big speech in season 1 shaky. Still, the young queen spoke with a blazing passion that was followed by her most impressive feat in the series — emerging from the ashes of Drogo's pyre as the Unburnt and the Mother of Dragons.

The Khaleesi frees the slaves in her khalasar and declares that if they choose to stay, it will be as "brothers and sisters, husbands and wives." Daenerys concludes her powerful speech with a chilling promise that their enemies will "die screaming."

Worst: Executing Mossador

Daenerys about to execute a young man in Game of Thrones.

Daenerys struggles at the top as Queen of Meereen in season 5. The Mother of Dragons chains her dragons in the dark and dedicates herself to her city's welfare. The young queen makes many mistakes in Meereen, including the execution of Mossador.

The Meereenese people turn on their queen when she publicly executes the freeman. Daenerys' meager speech does little to convince the people that she is acting to distribute balanced justice among the former slaves and masters.

Best: Meeting Jon Snow

Jon and Dany look at each other in Game of Thrones

Daenerys' first meeting with Jon Snow was a long-awaited moment that saw the last Targaryens come together at last. In season 7's "The Queen's Justice," Jon arrives at Dragonstone and meets the Mother of Dragons. Both monarchs display unwavering power as they broker the beginning of their alliance.

Daenerys' speech to Jon Snow familiarizes his character with her history. The Targaryen queen makes it clear to the King in the North that she isn't one to be trifled with.

Worst: Meeting Khal Moro

Khal Moro Speaking To Daenerys

Daenerys' first meeting with Khal Moro in season 6's "The Red Woman" echoes her underwhelming speech at the gates of Qarth in season 2. The stranded queen says little to the new Dothraki leader except for stating her long list of royal credentials.

Dany's titles fail to impress the Khal and his bloodriders. Ultimately, the Targaryen queen's early marriage to Khal Drogo in season 1 is what saves her, as Moro decides to take her to the dosh khaleen at Vaes Dothrak. The Mother of Dragons' epic monologues became iconic staples throughout the series, though this speech wasn't her best.
