D23 2017 Official Film Slate Spotlights Marvel, Pixar & Lucasfilm

Disney D23 Expo 2017 dates set

Disney has unveiled their official, show-stopping lineup for their biennial expo D23, a Comic-Con like showcase for upcoming projects under the House of Mouse mantle.

Every other year, Disney holds this event during the summer to celebrate their upcoming slate of films. A lot has changed in the two years since the last expo, and this year's edition has to be one of the most anticipated in its history. On the horizon in the next twelve months alone are major marquee films like Star Wars: The Last Jedi Avengers: Infinity Warand The Incredibles 2. This expo is a prime opportunity for casting announcements, sneak-peek footage, and other major news.

As usual, the two major conferences are split into animation and live-action, with Disney Animation and Pixar holding their John Lasseter-hosted panel on Friday afternoon and Marvel, Lucasfilm and Disney Live-Action projects getting their turn on Saturday morning. The only films confirmed to be showing footage are Pixar's Thanksgiving release Coco and next year's sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It-Ralph 2but that almost certainly will not be the case, as fans can expect plenty of surprises.

Along with the major panels, Disney will be hosting a celebration of The Lion King with director Rob Minkoff and other special guests, plus a sneak peek at the new Frozen short Olaf's Frozen Adventure and a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Bambi. For more information, check out the comprehensive schedule for D23 below, courtesy of BusinessWire.
