The DC Extended Universe has only just begun, but Warner Bros' ambitious plans have already been laid out. Even with only three films under their belt, they have announced eight upcoming films. As if that was not enough, they have staked claim on several other dates for future and, as of this writing, unannounced DC projects. One of those upcoming films is The Flash, which will mark the first solo outing for Ezra Miller as Barry Allen.
He has already made his debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and a brief cameo in Suicide Squad, and will once again appear in Justice League prior to being the leading man. However, if the latest report is true, then a fellow Justice League member will be making an appearance as well.
Variety is reporting that Ray Fisher has been confirmed to reprise his role as Cyborg for The Flash movie, prior to him also getting a solo movie in 2020 - though The Flash is currently without a release date. Cyborg has already been shown in the trailer for Justice League, and now an appearance in The Flash as well will give audiences a minimum of two movies to get acquainted with the actor prior to him leading his own film, Cyborg.
This news should not come as a surprise with DC making an effort to keep the "solo movies" packed with various other members of the DCEU. In fact, executive producer Deborah Snyder hinted at Cyborg's appearance in The Flash during the Justice League set visits earlier this year, as reported by Forbes. This has not been an uncommon practice on the Marvel side of things either, with actors constantly making cameos in other movies that are not their own.
There has not been much news on what the story for The Flash movie will revolve around, but we do know that Kiersey Clemons will also be featured as Iris West. Once they continue to flesh out the cast and director Rick Famuyiwa settles on the story, we should learn more about how the movie will fit into the DCEU. It has already been revealed that they could start production on the movie as soon as January of 2017 in London, so the process looks to be moving quickly if they have decided to include Fisher as well. With Cyborg now reportedly set to appear, the only question that remains is what other familiar faces could pop up as well.
Suicide Squad is in theaters now. Wonder Woman opens on June 2, 2017; Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; an untitled DC Film on October 5, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; an untitled DC film on November 1, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, the Batman solo movie and Man of Steel 2 are currently without release dates.
