A freelance concept artist has combined both the critically-acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the critically-maligned Cyberpunk 2077 into one piece of fantastic fan art that transports Hyrule’s hero to Night City. Ranked by Japanese players as the best game ever, Breath of the Wild places the Hero of Time in a vast, new open-world filled with danger and mysteries around every corner. Fans exploring Hyrule at their own pace are continuing to find new and exciting ways to play, creatively changing up the combat or exploiting some glitches, but apparently some desire to explore Night City.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 has not been quite the critical darling. At launch, excited players found the game to be buggy and unplayable on certain platforms, which led to a class-action lawsuit against CD Projekt Red. Since then, CDPR has been working to fix their game. While it had a problematic release, Cyberpunk 2077 has been Steam’s most played of 2021. Night City dwellers on consoles, however, have been waiting for much-needed updates. A rumored “soft relaunch” of Cyberpunk 2077 has been debunked by CDPR’s Global PR Director, Radek Grabowski.

Freelance concept artist Gray Shuko posted an impressive crossover fanart on Twitter (via Nintendo Life), sending the Hero of Time hundreds of years into the future. The art successfully merges the vibrant and colorful aesthetic of Breath of the Wild with the gritty, sci-fi stylings of Cyberpunk 2077. Dubbed “CyberLink,” the concept art is exploding with neon colors. Link sports a yellow version of V’s iconic jacket with a triforce logo on the shoulder over his standard blue tunic. He wields a riot shield, a technological sword, a visor, and an energy pack with an exposed ribbon cable that might be inspired by the Sheikah slate. The futuristic Hylian even looks to have cyberware implanted in his face.

Gray Shuko’s artwork proves that there’s not only interest in Breath of the Wild and its eventual sequel, but interest in Cyberpunk 2077 as well, despite its initial launch woes. Players are still discovering the new things about Steam’s most played game of 2021, uncovering secret paths and new ways to play. Savvy PC gamers can mod Cyberpunk 2077 to include a new metro system or a romance option with Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand.

Breath of the Wild and Cyberpunk 2077 may be completely different games with drastically different critical receptions, it is fun and refreshing to see them combined and celebrated in one piece of concept art. Whether gamers are adventuring through Hyrule or traveling around Night City, both games lend themselves to creativity.
