Cyberpunk 2077 is finally just around the corner, after nearly eight years in development. Expectations for the title are sky-high, especially after the tremendous impact of CD Projekt's previous game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher 3 is filled with beloved characters, and chief among those is Ciri, Geralt of Rivia's adopted daughter. While Cyberpunk 2077 is an entirely different game, there's undoubtedly going to be at least some Easter Eggs that reference The Witcher.

There could be a more direct link between the two, however, as a popular theory suggests Cir could actually appear in the world of Cyberpunk.

How Ciri Could Appear in Cyberpunk 2077

Geralt and Ciri in The Witcher 3

Fans of the Witcher will know that Ciri possesses the power to jump through time and space, which she's struggled to control for years. At the same time, the world of The Witcher is part of a massive multiverse. Players visit other worlds near the end of The Witcher 3 when Geralt accompanies Avallac'h through the portals he creates. While trying to escape Eredin and The Wild Hunt, Ciri travels through many worlds and eventually meets Avallac'h, who helps train her. During a conversation with Geralt, Ciri says Avallac'h took her to a world where The Wild Hunt couldn't find them, for about six months. As seen in this clip from kaotic219, if players press her on the subject Ciri describes the world as such, "People there had metal in their heads, waged war from a distance, using things similar to megascopes. And there were no horses, everyone had their own flying ship instead."

That description is a little ambiguous but certainly sounds like the world of Cyberpunk 2077. People with metal in their heads definitely references cybernetic implants and augmentations, and the things similar to megascopes are likely guns. Considering Ciri likely spent months in the world of Cyberpunk, there's a good chance she could pop up during the events of Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red was actually asked about Ciri and Cyberpunk by Polygon in 2018. Game Director Adam Badowski apparently hates the question with a passion, responding "We are not Kingdom Hearts, we are not joining universes, and I know that there are a lot of fans on the team and they would like to have Ciri in the game. But I am totally against it, still.” While Badowski was against, CD Projekt's CEO Marcin Iwiński says in the same interview that there's still time for Badowski to change his mind.

If Ciri does appear in Cyberpunk 2077 it likely won't be in a large capacity, but rather as a small Easter Egg. Avallac'h and Ciri would be lying low anyway, so it wouldn't make sense for them to make much of an appearance in Cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on December 10 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. A PS5 and Xbox Series X version will launch sometime in 2021, although the game will be playable on both consoles at launch via backward-compatibility.
