Cyberpunk 2077's launch has proven to be messy, but CD Projekt Red has given fans a timetable about when the game's worst woes may be fixed. The initial release of the highly-anticipated title was met with disappointment, primarily targeted at its performance on the base versions of the PS4 and Xbox One. With the initial launch behind them, CD Projekt Red can now move on to fixing the problems that the title brought with it.

Originally slated for an April release, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed numerous times in an effort to polish the title up before release. The delays were focused on tightening up the game's quality alongside polishing Cyberpunk's ability to run on lower-powered hardware. Despite the delays, the game's release on the last-generation console hardware remained a mess for players who were awaiting CD Projekt Red's latest launch. Numerous launch issues plague the experience, and CD Projekt Red remains committed to issuing a set of patches to help solve the lingering problems.

In a statement, CD Projekt Red issued an apology to players for the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on base PS4 and Xbox One hardware. The statement admitted that the company "should have paid more attention to making it play better" on the base console hardware as well as apologized for not showing the game on the earlier hardware. The statement went on to include a brief timetable as to when players can expect some of the bigger glitches to be fixed within Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red's statement indicates that the first wave of fixes beyond the day one patch will arrive within the next week. That smaller update will then be followed by two larger patches in January and February with the goal of fixing the last-gen's "most significant problems." The company states that the patches may not bring the last-gen version's performance up to par with the PC version, but it will make it "closer to that experience than it is now". This doesn't mean that the PC version is faring that much better, however.

While the bulk of the problems are centered on the performance on the base consoles, Cyberpunk 2077's issues extend to its performance on the PC version as well. Cyberpunk 2077's modding community have taken it upon themselves to help mitigate some of the problems as official fixes are underway, but the sheer amount of issues through all of the currently released versions of the title sends a poor signal regarding the state in which the game itself launched. With the fixes rolling in from both official and unofficial sources, players will simply have to be patient through at least February to see if the Cyberpunk 2077's performance woes will be abated.
