Publisher  of Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt have held an emergency conference call after controversy surrounding the game's unfinished state. After five days on the market, CD Projekt's latest title has been slammed due to various bugs and glitches found in Cyberpunk 2077.

Early eview copies of Cyberpunk 2077 only covered its performance on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC, each of which still contained several issues that were not yet resolved, even after a day one patch was released. However, the biggest topic of concern is the unfinished, borderline unplayable state of the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which many accuse CD Projekt of knowingly hiding from the public. The gap between the last-gen and current-gen versions of resulted in OpenCritic issuing a Cyberpunk 2077 consumer warning, the first of its kind on the platform.

Last night, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński held a conference call with several board members to answer questions about the status of Cyberpunk 2077, how and why the game launched in the state that it did, and progress made on future patches, multiplayer, and DLC. Before opening the call to questions, Kiciński stated that:

"After 3 delays, we as the Management Board were too focused on releasing the game. We underestimated the scale and complexity of the issues, we ignored the signals about the need for additional time to refine the game on the base last-gen consoles. It was the wrong approach and against our business philosophy."

The CEO followed this up by saying, "The next set of fixes will be released within the next seven days. Big updates are planned for January and February, together with smaller fixes.Cyberpunk 2077' launch has also thrown a wrench into any plans for future multiplayer content as Kiciński pointed out, "we haven’t confirmed any dates yet, and as I’ve said before, it’s hard to judge now. We’re in an unanticipated situation and we’ll have to reassess."

Other CD Projekt executives popped in and out throughout the 50-minute call to answer various questions from different agitated shareholders. One board member sounded particularly concerned, with a barrage of questions asking why PS4 and Xbox One gameplay was not shown as much and how many people are still working on Cyberpunk 2077, asking, "How many people on the next Witcher game? How many people on DLCs? How many people on multiplayer?" Both Kiciński and Marcin Iwiński did their best to answer the swarm of questions, but it is was clear that some of those answers aren't yet clear and that those in attendance were not exactly pleased with recent events.

While the CD Projekt team would like players to continue to be patient and hold on until future patches can be released, the company has offered to refund unsatisfied players, which was another point of contention in the call (additionally, getting a Cyberpunk 2077 refund from Sony might be difficult or impossible for now). Kiciński promised another patch would be coming within the next week to (hopefully) further fix the last-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077, but this whole situation has damaged CD Projekt's reputation in a way that will likely take quite some time to be repaired.
