CD Projekt Red has revealed the top reported glitch in Cyberpunk 2077 involves the character Takemura, and it's one that was supposed to be fixed immediately after launch. The game has been plagued with bugs and glitches since launch, and Cyberpunk 2077 isn't recommended for base PS4 and Xbox One consoles. The bug in question is one that stops players from progressing through the story, fundamentally breaking the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 was set to be one of the biggest games of last generation. The open-world action-adventure title was first announced in 2012, and quickly became one of the most highly anticipated releases of all time. Cyberpunk 2077 suffered from a number of delays, and the studio was also accused of imposing crunch on its employees. While gamers hoped the news wouldn't affect the final product, Cyberpunk 2077 shipped in an incomplete state. Following accusations of the game being broken, Sony removed Cyberpunk 2077 from digital sale via the PlayStation Store, only recently reinstating it.

CD Projekt Red has now announced that the game's top reported glitch is one involving Takemura in the quest named "Play it Safe". Players must wait for Takemura to call them before they can continue with the main story mission, but the bug means the call does not come. Developers had supposedly fixed the problem with Hot Fix 1.05, which released just a few weeks after the game launched for PC and consoles back in 2020. The glitch is a severe one, and it's also one of Cyberpunk 2077's oldest glitches. Unfortunately, the patch didn't fix the Takemura bug for everyone, with the developer reporting it's the game's top reported issue as of June 24 2021. "Takemura doesn’t call even after completing other main quests, objective’s stuck on 'Pursue other leads or wait until Takemura is ready'," says the CD Projekt Red support page, which doesn't offer a workaround or temporary fix. "We’ve shared [the glitches] with our development team and they are being investigated," states the post.

The game continues to disappoint some players with its various bugs and glitches, which in many cases mean the story simply cannot be completed. It's recommended that players wanting to try Cyberpunk 2077 should play on newer consoles, or on PC. While CD Projekt Red has been working hard to release patches and Hot Fixes, it's not clear when the game will reach its intended state. The studio recently struggled after being hacked, with source code for The Witcher 3 being stolen, as well as source code for Cyberpunk 2077.

Despite the many issues CD Projekt Red has faced since Cyberpunk launched in December 2020, it's hoped that the game will one day be what gamers hoped it would be from day one. CDPR is seemingly not slowing down when it comes to bug fixes, and the company is still planning to release a new-generation upgrade later this year. The upgrade, coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will be free for those who already own the game. No release date has yet been confirmed, though the studio has also revealed plans to release a similar upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
