It's been almost two months since Cyberpunk 2077 first released, and that time has been plagued with controversies and issues regarding various aspects like poor graphics and performance problems. The issues with Cyberpunk 2077 have left many players eager to know when updates to fix these problems will occur, as well as when to expect the long-awaited free DLC for the game. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red has unveiled a roadmap detailing when updates, DLC, and next-gen upgrades will occur.

The bad news is that Cyberpunk 2077's free DLC has been pushed back. The good news is that it's because CD Projekt Red is focusing on fixing the many problems that exist in the game already. Several hotfixes were quickly added to the game in December 2020 to try to help with Cyberpunk 2077's issues, but major patches have yet to release.

The problems with Cyberpunk 2077 led to a lot of speculation and rumors that the free DLC would be delayed. So, while this latest bit of news isn't necessarily surprising, it's still disappointing for those who've beaten the game already. While exact dates and months weren't shared, the roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 did at least reveal release windows for future patches, updates, DLCs, and even next-gen upgrades. Here's everything players need to know.

Cyberpunk Roadmap: DLC & Update Releases Revealed

cyberpunk 2077 roadmap

The official roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 (pictured above), shows that Patch 1.1 and Patch 1.2 should be releasing fairly soon, since their release windows are for early 2021. Multiple updates and improvements are scheduled throughout the year after Patch 1.2's release, which may allay some fears that Cyberpunk 2077 will never be completely fixed. The first free DLC for the game is planned for the middle of the year, pushing it back from its expected release date in early 2021.

A free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X is also planned for later in the year. It looks like players will have to wait until the latter part of 2021 to get it, though. The roadmap is reassuring since it shows that CD Projekt Red appears to be taking Cyberpunk 2077's problems seriously, but it is a little worrying that exact release dates (or even release months) aren't shown. This could be in response to delays and development crunch that caused controversies prior to the game's release, as the company may be hesitant to officially set unrealistic expectations for itself.

Hopefully, additional details will be shared by CD Projekt Red soon. Patch 1.1 should be arriving sometime in January, with Patch 1.2 following soon after. These patches should fix a lot of the problems in Cyberpunk 2077, with free DLC and next-gen upgrades scheduled for later in the year.
