Approximately 100 days have passed since Sony Interactive Entertainment chose to delist Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store on December 17, 2020. After years of waiting and several delays, developer CD Projekt Red released the title on December 10 of last year. As many may recall, the title failed to live up to the hype, though.

Instead of a ground-breaking experience, players across all platforms were met with a broken title replete with game-breaking bugs. Players on last-gen consoles encountered the bulk of the issues, however, thanks to constant crashes, dismal frame rates, subpar graphics, and AI that lacked any sense of refinement. These problems and countless others resulted in CD Projekt Red promising refunds to anyone who wanted their money back, a promise it neglected to run by its partners - Microsoft and Sony included. Still, the platform holders and several retailers temporarily amended their refund policies to accommodate the sea of refund requests. This seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back on Sony's end; just one week after the long-awaited title launched digitally and at retail, Sony pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store.

As noted by Game Rant, Sony removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store approximately 100 days ago. Neither company has offered any insight as to when the RPG will return to the PlayStation storefront. Hopes were high that its reinstatement would come following a few notable updates, one of which went live earlier in the year. However, the ransomware attack on CD Projekt Red's network halted the studio's workflow for an unspecified period of time. And though Cyberpunk 2077's second major patch, Update 1.2, launched across all platforms today, there's still no word on the status of the PlayStation Store version's reinstatement.

Cyberpunk 2077 Takemura Mission Glitch Fix CDPR

Earlier this year, before the cyberattack on its networks, CD Projekt Red said it was "working with Sony to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible." For the sake of PlayStation users who still want to give the open-world adventure a try, here's to hoping the game's PlayStation Store return remains a priority. Though it is worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 didn't sell well on consoles following its disastrous rollout. As such, who can say for sure how the disappointing sales numbers may impact CD Projekt Red's approach going forward?

CDPR's focus on optimizing the experience forced the studio to adjust its post-launch content strategy. The free DLC that previously had an early 2021 launch window attached will now launch sometime in the back half of this year. Meanwhile, the next-gen console upgrades are slated for a late 2021 release.
