Cyberpunk 2077 is indeed being relisted on PlayStation Network Store this month, but the game could still have problems on base PS4s. Word had it that CD Projekt Red’s post-modern open-world RPG was going to be reinstated after its highly publicized removal last year, which was brought on after endless player complaints regarding its infamously buggy nature at launch.

It's no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 had a less than ideal first impression when it was released last December. There were countless bugs and glitches, ranging from minor (and humorous) graphical hiccups to game-crashing errors that required a massive Day One patch just to get the much-buzzed-about title playable. In the months since, CD Projekt Red has been hard at work fixing the worst of it, but it looks like Cyberpunk 2077’s technical woes will persist even as its digital edition is made available to download once more.

According to IGN, Cyberpunk 2077 is returning to the PlayStation Network next week, but Sony warns that the game could still have some problems while being played on a standard PlayStation 4. “SIE can confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will be re-listed on PlayStation Store starting June 21, 2021,” the company confirmed in a recent press statement. “Users will continue to experience performance issues with the PS4 edition while CD Projekt Red continues to improve stability across all platforms. SIE recommends playing the title on PS4 Pro or PS5 for the best experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 Psycho Attack

This is just the latest in a series of embarrassments and bad news stories for CD Projekt Red regarding Cyberpunk 2077. In the months since the game’s release, the Polish developer has come under fire amid allegations that executives crunched their employees and refused to delay the game further, despite claims that it wasn’t ready for release yet. To make matters worse, CD Projekt Red was hacked a few months ago, which resulted in valuable data and source code for not only Cyberpunk but The Witcher 3 and its card-game spin-off Gwent being leaked and sold off at black market auctions.

While Cyberpunk 2077 has steadily improved since its disastrous launch and its return on PlayStation’s online store initially sounded like a sign that the game was on the path of redemption, the news that its remaining technical problems will persist on PlayStation 4 is little comfort to players who haven’t managed to snag the ever-elusive PS5 yet. Not only that, but this development basically undermines the statement that CD Projekt Red was hoping to make with Cyberpunk 2077’s relisting, as the once-prominent developer continues to try and salvage their latest title after a never-ending wave of controversy and misfortune.
