CD Projekt Red just released Patch 1.6 for Cyberpunk 2077, and unfortunately, it will be the last update available for last-gen consoles. Cyberpunk 2077, inspired by the Cyberpunk TTRPG series, explores the technologically advanced, corporation-dominated, crime-infested world of Night City. The game's last-gen console releases originally had so many issues they were near unplayable, and though a series of patches have since vastly improved the game, CD Projekt Red clearly had trouble dealing with last-gen technological limitations before.

Considering the title's history, leaving its original platforms behind makes sense, even though it will doubtlessly alienate some fans. The good news is Patch 1.6 is available for everyone, and for a free update, it is fairly big. The patch is called the "Edgerunners Update," and some of its content is inspired by the upcoming spin-off anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Patch 1.6 doesn't add any main story missions to Cyberpunk 2077, but it adds some gigs, weapons, and features.

CD Projekt Red is adding three new gigs to the game: "Concrete Cage Trap," "Desperate Measures," and "Nasty Hangover." According to the list of changes on the official Cyberpunk site, the update added some "secret" content to quests in Night City, though the mysterious Easter eggs are unavailable for last-gen consoles. The update also includes 11 new weapons, six firearms and five melee weapons, and allows players to alter their outfit's appearance without affecting armor stats. There is additional secret content related to the Edgerunners anime, including new equipment and features in Photo Mode.

In terms of content, Patch 1.6 also features a new arcade game called Roach Race, which was also released for mobile platforms. Cyberpunk 2077's protagonist V's recruitable pet cat Nibbles can now join the player in Photo Mode. CD Projekt Red, perhaps in an effort to accommodate last-gen console players who will be unable to access the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion, added a cross-progression feature. A list of new features in Patch 1.6 can be found below:

  • Three new gigs as well as secret quest-related content
  • Cosmetic-only wardrobe alteration
  • Eleven new weapons
  • Cross-progression feature
  • Roach Race arcade game
  • Can take pictures of Nibbles in Photo Mode
  • A massive list of bug fixes and tweaks for a wide variety of features.

Most of the updates' minor improvements rebalance weapons and perks and fix bugs, but there are some noteworthy changes. Both the Media Set and Techie Set have armor pieces that were unavailable due to bugs but can now be found in Cyberpunk 2077's open-world map. The player can now determine how long V sleeps in their apartment, see images of items before they buy them, change the color of their bikes' neon rims, and access new hairstyles. CD Projekt Red may not release future Cyberpunk 2077 updates on last-gen consoles, but at least players can transfer their data if they upgrade their platform (though they may have to buy a new copy of the game).
