Modding the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 just became easier than ever, as CD Projekt RED has launched a new modding tool named REDmod. As is the case with nearly every big triple-A video game that is available on the more flexible PC platform (such as the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered), talented players have alternated 2020’s controversial Cyberpunk 2077 in a variety of interesting ways in the form of mods - made all the more fitting thanks to the game’s focus on technology and computer hacking, as well as players being able to modify main protagonist V’s body through the use of cybernetic implants.Unlike the mods for other big PC releases, which mainly center around comical antics like replacing Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis with Shrek or introducing Daredevil into Marvel’s Spider-Man, many of Cyberpunk 2077’s mods involve easing the technical issues that have plagued the sci-fi RPG since its divisive launch in the winter of 2020. Modders have improved Cyberpunk 2077’s vehicle combat and high-speed police chases, rebalanced the game’s combat, and even eased Cyberpunk 2077’s menu system. Other Cyberpunk 2077 mods have added new content, like introducing a new Cyberpunk 2077 VR mode to better immerse the player in the rugged environment of Night City and adding additional depth and realism to V’s romance with Cyberpunk 2077 supporting character Judy Alvarez.Related: Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Makes Judy Romance Much More RealisticIt seems that even CD Projekt RED is aware of how popular modding Cyberpunk 2077 is with the game’s fanbase, as the developer recently released a free DLC tool to make loading and installing mods easier. As announced on the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account (via Engadget), this new tool is called REDmod, and will also allow players to modify and personalize Cyberpunk 2077 with a set of included custom sounds, animations, and scripts. CD Projekt Red has also promised that REDmod will be updated in future Cyberpunk 2077 patches to ensure that it remains compatible with the latest version of the game. New Cyberpunk 2077 Tool Makes Modding Easier

REDmod isn’t the only new content coming to Cyberpunk 2077 either, as earlier this week CD Projekt RED unveiled the game’s first story-based DLC expansion. Titled Phantom Liberty, this expansion will see Keanu Reeves return as Cyberpunk 2077’s rebellious rocker Johnny Silverhand in a new quest that sees V travel to a new section of Night City and enlist with the New United States government in a postmodern spy thriller storyline. Not much else is known about Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC expansion, but CD Projekt RED claims that it’s currently the only story content planned for the foreseeable future.

This won’t stop Cyberpunk 2077 players from making their own fun in Night City, especially since the newly-released REDmod DLC is making loading and installing mods on the PC version of the game easier than ever before. Only time will tell what creative new mods Cyberpunk 2077 fans will produce using this promising new tool, but anything is possible in the world of CD Projekt RED’s once-troubled RPG shooter.
