An exciting Cyberpunk 2077 fan contest will give players the opportunity to submit original music and hear it play over a new Night City radio station. CD Projekt Red's futuristic RPG had an infamously unstable launch, but updates and patches have slowly improved the gritty sci-fi experience. The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty will bring players on another Night City adventure alongside Johnny Silverhand, and the DLC will include tunes created by fans.

Fans have long been speculating about what will be added to Cyberpunk 2077 in its DLC, and now a bit has finally been revealed. The story expansion will see Keanu Reeves return as the iconic Johnny Silverhand, who continues to haunt protagonist V. Phantom Liberty will also take V to a brand-new part of Night City, which is rumored to be a previously inaccessible portion of the Pacifica district. The Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will reportedly deliver a cyberpunk spy-thriller experience, with V pledging loyalty to the New United States of America. While some fans were anticipating a Cyberpunk 2077 DLC set outside America, for now the franchise is sticking with V and Night City.

A Cyberpunk 2077 music contest, revealed on YouTube by Cyberpunk 2077, will give fans a chance to have their original songs added to the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC. Between now and November 30 fans can submit original music pieces to CD Projekt Red, and 12 to 15 tracks will be chosen as the contest's winners. The Phantom Liberty expansion will add a community radio station to the game called Growl FM, and this station will play the contest's winning tunes. Winners will also receive a $3,000 cash prize, an iZotope Elements Suite of audio plug-ins and a Cyberpunk 2077 goodie bag featuring a statue of V.

Indie Artists Can Have Their Tunes Wired Into Cyberpunk 2077

An abundance of copyrighted music in Cyberpunk 2077 gives Night City its distinct futuristic vibe, with over 150 tracks setting the tone for V's adventure. CD Projekt Red constructed the game's score by recruiting world-famous talent, including singer and musician Grimes and the hip-hop duo Run the Jewels. Unfortunately, copyrighted music can cause issues for fans trying to stream the game. Thankfully Cyberpunk 2077 has an option to prevent copyrighted music from playing, replacing these tracks with entirely different songs.

Music players a huge role in establishing a game world, and Cyberpunk 2077 makes great use of songs to make Night City feel truly alive. Now CD Projekt Red's fan music contest will bring things full circle by adding independent songs inspired by the game in the Phantom Liberty expansion. The contest will run until November 30, so musically-talented fans of Cyberpunk 2077 should get to work on a track worthy of Growl FM.
