Datamined files indicate CD Projekt Red is once more producing a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077, alongside at least two DLC expansions. A dataminer stumbled upon this information thanks to the PC build of Cyberpunk 2077's Update 1.3, which went live across all platforms last week.

At a weight of approximately 40GB, Patch 1.3 introduced a whole host of bug fixes, gameplay adjustments, quality of life changes, and the first bit of free downloadable content. One fix, for example, included the addition of clarity about choices users make in the campaign's Clouds quest. The Perk system received an overhaul, too, addressing issues that players have openly critiqued since launch. Meanwhile, the long-awaited free content brought in a brand-new car, two new jackets for the player character V, and an alternate outfit for Johnny Silverhand. Patch 1.3 featured a few other noteworthy surprises under the hood, as well.

According to YouTuber Tyler McVicker, scraping through the executable files of the sizable 1.3 patch unveils some interesting details about Cyberpunk 2077. While the title's previously axed online mode used to be listed as "CPO" for Cyberpunk Online, it now appears in a different form  - "CyberpunkMulti" - which suggests CD Projekt Red plans to revisit its scrapped multiplayer plans. McVicker also stumbled across the first real hint that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive at least two story expansions, though the specifics presently remain unclear.

That Cyberpunk 2077 may receive an online suite after all inarguably counts as the most notable of the datamined details. CDPR cast aside plans for Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer in March of this year, citing a desire to shift focus in such a way that all of its franchises will eventually receive online functionality. Pulling attention and resources away from just one big project should allow the team to accomplish such an ambitious feat, studio President President Adam Kiciński explained in a strategy update.

Patch 1.3 constitutes the company's latest attempt to fundamentally improve Cyberpunk 2077 across the board. It marks the biggest update launched for the game in quite some time, yet CDPR isn't finished rolling out major changes. Notably, players continue to await news about current-gen upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Unless the studio has considerably altered altered its plans, these upgrades remain on track for a late 2021 release.
