A newly compiled Cyberpunk 2077 world map shows of Night City's dense 15 districts as they're expected to fit together in-game. The map comes alongside a series of images showing what every district will look like, making it one of the biggest insights fans have been given into the makeup of the futuristic, neon-drenched Night City.

CD Projekt Red has been releasing small bits of information about their increasingly delayed game, Cyberpunk 2077, for months now including long game play videos and some trailers. While fans have gotten a good feel for the game world, they've been lacking any information on how all the areas shown relate to each other geographically. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be an open world RPG like CD Projekt Red's other popular series, The Witcher. As is true with all open-world games, the game world can truly make or break the experience. Because the pacing is set by a player's ability to get from place to place effectively and enjoyably, map layout is very important, and that's why fans are excited to look at how Night City has filled its space.

Night City's district map map appeared on Reddit courtesy of user Svale_Chow. The districts are broken up into 6 sections, each with their own unique feels, factions, and purposes. This well-made map is derived from the upcoming book The World of Cyberpunk 2077, which contains making-of insights for fans who want to dig deeper into the game's universe. The protagonist starting area seems to be Heywood, positioned on a interior island beside the City Centre, where many of the game's oppressive corporations seem to be based. So far, prospective players know they'll work with and against different corporations as they try to survive the complex dangers of Night City. It makes sense, then, that City Centre is the closest section to the starting area, where players will most likely first venture to kick off the drama.

The unnamed island off to the left is the Orbital Air Space Centre and could aide players in leaving Night City - and the Earth - entirely, as space has always been a big part of Cyberpunk lore since its tabletop roots. What exactly can be expected from each of the sections remains largely unknown for now, but this has big-picture look has opened up a lot of room for further fan speculation and theories.

Often, the size of an open-world space can be a deciding factor for some players when buying a game. A sprawling map can work for a huge Rockstar sandbox game world because vast spaces with occasional attractions and few accessible interiors are easier to design extensively. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 has been promising to be one of the most densely detailed games ever. If CD Project Red had opted to make Night City massive, the game's long-awaited sci-fi environment would have to compromise on the developer's vision. As such, it's exciting that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a narrowed focus on creating a complex city full of unique NPCs rather than an impressively large world with little substance populating it.
