The limited edition Xbox One X version of CD Projekt Red's upcoming sci-fi FPS Cyberpunk 2077 is currently listed as costing players two thousand dollars, but it appears to be a typo. Limited and special editions of video games has become something of an industry standard over the past two decades, with companies offering players extra goodies such as art books, figurines, and downloadable in-game content in exchange for more money. Often, these editions are only available before the game is officially released, and players must purchase them without knowing for sure if the final product will live up to their expectations.

This pre-purchasing method for special and limited edition video games has seen some issues in the past, especially when it comes to companies like Bethesda. Bethesda famously offered players officially-branded canvas bags as part of Fallout 76's $200 Power Armor Edition, but the bags which consumers ended up receiving were made of cheap nylon, not canvas, and the company ended up having to replace everyone's original bag once it was discovered certain streamers and social media influencers had received the higher-quality versions in order to help increase sales.

However, CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition deal for the Xbox One X costs roughly eighteen hundred dollars more than Bethesda's Fallout 76 one, if the game's current listing in the Microsoft Store is to be believed. Thankfully, according to Josh Stein, Social Marketing Manager for Xbox, it appears as if the $1,999.99 price tag for the Xbox Series X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition is an error, and players will have to wait until next month to learn more. Check out Stein's response on Twitter below:

Although Stein reports that the current price for Cyberpunk 2077 isn't "correct at all", at the time of this writing the official Microsoft Store page for the game still lists the Xbox One X Limited Edition as being available for pre-order for $1,999.99. There are no additional details as to the contents of Cyberpunk 2077's alleged expensive edition, save for the fact that players who purchase it now will "enjoy a full-game digital download of Cyberpunk 2077 (available September 17, 2020), as well as the future first expansion release."

For two thousand dollars, most players would expect to gain access to ALL of Cyberpunk 2077's future DLC content, not just the first expansion, but Stein's comments indicate that the pricing is liable to change soon. Hopefully players won't have to wait until June to find out what the official Limited Edition price is for the Xbox Series X version of Cyberpunk 2077, and even if they do CD Projekt Red would be wise to either lower the current price or offer something of equal value... such as a free Keanu Reeves with every game purchase.
