The post-launch roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 has quietly received an update, in which CD Projekt Red clarifies that free DLC and other fixes will now arrive in 2022. Such news follows over a week after the studio announced plans to delay Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 upgrades to next year.

Both next-gen upgrades were previously expected to roll out sometime in the back half of 2021. In its September 2021 management board report, though, CD Projekt Red cast doubt on its ability to adhere to the set launch window. It hardly came as a surprise, then, when the company pushed Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen update to Q1 2022 and The Witcher 3's to an unspecified date in the second quarter of 2022. But the Polish studio remained silent about its roadmap plans, which included additional Cyberpunk 2077 fixes and the sci-fi RPG's long-promised free downloadable content that was slated for release this calendar year. While CDPR has broken said silence, it did so without calling much attention to the changes.

Yesterday, October 28, the roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 quietly received an update on CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk.net website. The roadmap posted earlier in the year featured a section labeled "Multiple Updates & Improvements," with a space marked for "Free DLCs." This particular bit of the map was bookended by the years 2021 and 2022. Now the revised roadmap boasts an "Updates, Improvements, and Free DLCs" marker that sits comfortably behind the 2022 tag. Evidently, the cited fixes, updates, and DLC won't arrive until sometime next year. Graphics for both the old map and its replacement feature below, courtesy of PC Gamer.

Interestingly, despite previous promises of transparency, CD Projekt Red has yet to openly call attention to the content roadmap changes. Neither the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account nor the CDPR page has so much as linked to the edited FAQ page on Cyberpunk.net. Hopefully, this isn't indicative of the studio slipping back into old habits.

Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch in December 2020 caused more than a fair few problems. A refund debacle resulted in Sony making the unprecedented decision to pull the RPG from PlayStation's digital storefront, for one. And it didn't return to PSN until late June. In addition, CD Projekt Red's stocks fell considerably for a time after launch. The once celebrated development group also found itself on the receiving end of lawsuits from investors. Whether or not the tide will ever fully turn in the game's favor remains unknown.
