Like many RPGs, Cyberpunk 2077 gives players plenty of options for creating their own version of rebellious edgerunner V - including how they approach combat. Players can build V into an unstoppable juggernaut who charges into a warehouse full of enemies with guns blazing or a stealthier warrior who slowly picks off their enemies one at a time by hacking their augmentations or sneaking up behind them for a quick and brutal takedown attack.

The game's stealth takedowns are easy to pull off, provided players have the best Cyberpunk 2077 stealth builds for sneaking around enemies unnoticed. Players can even choose between killing their enemies outright or simply knocking them out with stealth takedowns, though V will still have to dispose of the fallen foe afterward lest their allies uncover them and start to actively hunt V down. V can even perform stealth takedowns against Cyberpunk 2077’s main bosses, though these play out rather differently than the ones performed against standard enemies.

While these takedowns might not completely incapacitate a boss like they would a standard Cyberpunk 2077 enemy, they will take out a significant portion of their health bar and give V a better fighting chance against the likes of Adam Smasher or Simon “Royce” Randall. Certain Cyberpunk 2077 boss encounters even feature multiple stealth takedowns that can be performed at different stages of the battle, though it can be easy to miss them in Cyberpunk 2077, as the game's difficulty level seems to favor players who take the direct approach. All the same, these Cyberpunk 2077 boss stealth takedowns can be fun to pull off, and some of them can even weaken V’s enemy in particular ways.

Simon Randal, aka “Royce”

Royce in his mech suit, one of the boss fights in Cyberpunk 2077.

Royce is the violent leader of the Maelstrom gang, and one of the first major bosses players face off against in Cyberpunk 2077. Players encounter him during the main mission “The Pickup,” where V travels to the All Foods factory to obtain a spiderbot. Depending on the player’s choices, V can take skip this boss fight by taking Royce out early on, sneaking out of the factory without him noticing, or simply paying Royce off during the Cyberpunk 2077 mission. However, should V find themselves in a confrontation with Royce, the gang leader will try to kill them in a high-powered mech suit.

Luckily, a stealth-oriented V can perform two different stealth takedowns to tip the scales of this battle in their favor - both of which can be seen in Kansaqe’s YouTube video clip above. The first shows V climbing onto the back of Royce’s mech and tearing out its battery - leaving Royce in a more vulnerable position. In the second stealth takedown animation, V climbs on the back of the mech once again - this time to deliver a series of brutal blows to Royce himself that could end the fight.

Matilda K. Ross, aka “Sasquatch”

Someone holding a gun towards the character Sasquatch in Cyberpunk 2077 from a first-person perspective.

Sasquatch leads Night City’s fitness-obsessed Animals gang and is fought during the "I Walk the Line" quest. V encounters her while infiltrating an abandoned mall on behalf of the Voodoo Boys, and can avoid Cyberpunk 2077's Sasquatch boss fight by sneaking past while she’s talking with an associate on the phone. Should this tactic fail, V can at least employ a pair of stealth takedown moves in the resulting battle - as demonstrated in a YouTube video from Kazuliski.

The first of these attacks sees V sneak up behind Sasquatch and strike at the glowing juicer on her back - which takes out a quarter of her health. In the second takedown, V chokes Sasquatch out using a wire - thus allowing them to locate the missing NetWatch agent hiding in the nearby movie theater.

Sandayu Oda

Oda poised to strike V in a Cyberpunk 2077 boss fight.

Oda is a cybernetically enhanced ninja bodyguard of Hanako Arasaka, and his Mantis Blade augmentations make him a formidable opponent for V in Cyberpunk 2077's Oda boss battle. V has to protect their ally Takemura from this deadly warrior during the “Play It Safe” story mission, and players who out-stealth Oda can take him down with a couple of handy stealth moves.

As shown in misternoobie’s playthrough of the Oda boss fight, V can disable Oda’s red cybernetic mask with a brutal stomp - which has the added benefit of rendering Oda vulnerable to Smart weapons. After sneaking up behind Oda a second time, V trades blows with the ninja until they grab ahold of his right arm and break it to finish the battle.

Adam Smasher

Adam Smasher pointing one of his arm cannons at the camera in Cyberpunk 2077.

As the full-borg boogeyman of Night City and the Arasaka Corporation’s deadliest agent, Adam Smasher serves as Cyberpunk 2077’s final boss. While Adam Smasher is rather easy to defeat if V is properly leveled, slowly tearing this hulking monstrosity apart is still satisfying - especially for players who watched Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Fittingly enough, Adam Smasher’s boss battle in Cyberpunk 2077 features multiple stealth takedowns, as shown in Elemental FreezingFire’s YouTube playthrough of the final encounter. The first one comes right at the beginning and shows V sneaking up behind Smasher and stabbing a knife into the fully-chromed assassin’s shoulder. A frustrated Smasher then tears off his disabled right arm to continue his relentless pursuit.

In the subsequent stealth takedown, V grabs one of the grenades hanging at Smasher's right side, climbs on top of the behemoth’s back, and plants the bomb near his head. After V jumps off, the grenade explodes and takes out Smasher’s shoulder-mounted missile launcher - making the rest of the showdown much easier. Adam Smasher’s final stealth takedown can be performed once V has the upper hand, and consists of the player climbing up on Smasher’s back one last time and tearing at the cord on the back of his head. This will finally bring Cyberpunk 2077's infamous Adam Smasher to his knees and ensure that V becomes a true legend of Night City regardless of which ending the player chooses when all is said and done.
