From loyal friends to powerful foes, Night City is full of memorable characters who could potentially reprise a role in Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC, but bringing back the game's hardest boss could be a counterintuitively refreshing addition. After defeating him in battle, some players might have wished to never meet him again, but the upcoming expansion presents a fruitful opportunity for CD Projekt Red to build upon this story all while adding value to Phantom Liberty's own narrative.

From what has been shown of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty's story thus far, the game's most menacing enemy would be a perfect match, thematically. Seemingly containing no shortage of stealth, mind games, and high-octane combat, the DLC seems to place the fate of the NUSA in V's own hands, and they'll need to decide who they can trust along the way. Their most reliable ally looks to be FIA Agent Solomon Reed, who is played by Idris Elba in Phantom Liberty, but Cyberpunk 2077's hardest boss could potentially play an equally (if not more so) interesting role in the expansion's spy-thriller story.

Sandayu Oda Could Return For Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC

Cyberpunk 2077's hardest boss, Sandayu Oda, could make an exciting return cameo in the Phantom Liberty DLC. Being Goro Takemura's former apprentice, Hanako Arasaka's devoted bodyguard, and no stranger to cybernetic modifications, he outshines even the Night City legend Adam Smasher as the game's most challenging fight and thus, one of its most unforgettable characters. Of course, players will have had the choice to kill or spare him at the end of their tussle - but those who heeded Takemura's pleas and indeed let Oda survive could reap the benefits of their pacifist actions by seeing him return to Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC in one of two ways.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Could Expand Oda's Story

Being a stalwart supporter of Cyberpunk 2077's Arasaka corporation, Sandayu Oda could return with a vengeance and attempt to defeat V, once and for all. This role certainly wouldn't be out of character, as he seems to take great shame at his defeat in battle, and coming back as an even stronger enemy in Phantom Liberty could be his way of restoring his - and Arasaka's - shattered pride. However, the alternative proposes an even more intriguing development. With the NUSA in shambles, Oda could realize that his undying loyalty is needed elsewhere and fight alongside V in Phantom Liberty.

Either possibility poses an enthralling opportunity for the DLC to expand on Oda's character arc, which was sadly underdeveloped despite his interesting backstory in Cyberpunk 2077. Whether he has a change of heart and becomes V's ally just like his former mentor Takemura, or if he becomes an even more foreboding obstacle in their path, he could add more action to Phantom Liberty's already exciting setting and story, redeeming his reputation in the hearts of players. Even among reprisals like Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, or Idris Elba's introduction as Solomon Reed, Cyberpunk 2077's hardest boss Sandayu Oda has the opportunity to be Phantom Liberty's best character yet.
