A brand-new trailer for the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty, showcased at The Game Awards 2022, reveals that Idris Elba will appear in the DLC as a master of espionage. The upcoming add-on will take players to a brand-new district of Night City for a final sci-fi adventure. Phantom Liberty will see Keanu Reeves return as Johnny Silverhand, but the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will also bring another Hollywood icon into the mix.

A new trailer for the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Phantom Liberty, posted to YouTube by The Game Awards following its exclusive reveal during the event, introduces a new character named Solomon Reed played by Idris Elba. The mysterious new character is apparently a master of espionage and survival, and voiceover from Elba suggests he will be loyal ally to protagonist V. Reed is also likely to come into conflict with Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, who is infamously anarchic and detests the forces that control Night City. A brief interview with Elba also sees the Hollywood icon delve deeper into Reed's role in the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sees Idris Elba & Keanu Reeves Face Off

Idris Elba as Solomon Reed in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, looking out of a window with broken blinds.

By introducing Idris Elba as NUSA agent Solomon Reed, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will give the manipulative Johnny Silverhand a worthy adversary. Keanu Reeves is easily the most recognizable star in the seedy sci-fi RPG, but now Cyberpunk 2077's long-awaited DLC will present Idris Elba as an equally recognizable Hollywood star. Johnny Silverhand and Solomon Reed will likely to present two paths for protagonist V to choose from, with one character disregarding the law while the other fights to uphold it. However, it remains to be seen exactly what role Idris Elba's character will play in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Alongside Idris Elba, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is expected to make a number of other exciting additions to CD Projekt Red's divisive RPG. The DLC will take players to a brand-new region called Dogtown, where they will find themselves tangled in a complex spy-thriller storyline. The Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty will also include other exciting features, like a brand-new radio station that plays original songs submitted by fans.

While Keanu Reeves stole the show as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, Idris Elba may take some of the spotlight from the ethereal rocker when he arrives in Phantom Liberty. NUSA agent Solomon Reed appears to be a well-meaning government operative, but he could also hold secret ulterior motives. The Cyberpunk 2077 expansion is set to be a spy thriller, so only time will tell where Idris Elba's true allegiances lie when he enters Night City.
