CD Projekt Red very rarely responds to rumors and speculation, but has decided to debunk recent claims about cut content in Cyberpunk 2077. A few weeks ago, an alleged CDPR employee joined an online forums page and began sharing supposed insight about the RPG's troubled development. According to the forum post, a whole host of content fell to the cutting room floor throughout production.

On the surface, such tales seemed to hold water, at least logically, given the wealth of evidence in the half-baked or excised ideas littered throughout the final product itself. The lengthy write-up from the alleged CD Projekt Red staffer further insisted the studio would begin adding the previously tossed-aside content back into the game via free updates and that layers should expect said additions to start rolling out as early as this March, according to these unsubstantiated Cyberpunk 2077 rumors. This very same leaker, who may or may not be associated with CDPR, also purported that Keanu Reeves actually wasn't the team's first choice for Johnny Silverhand, and that it was in fact Cillian Murphy of Peaky Blinders who was originally desired for the role.

Now the Polish studio is setting the record straight on its official Twitter page for Cyberpunk 2077. In a brief tweet that links to a Reddit post sharing the aforementioned rumors, the company noted, "this story is simply not true." Presumably, this straightforward response applies to every aspect of the claims in question, suggesting the cut content does not exist and, thus, won't be stitched back into the fold at a later date.

A quick look through the Twitter replies suggests fans are split on whether or not this statement from CDPR should be taken at face value. After all, the firm is currently facing lawsuits for misleading investors about Cyberpunk 2077's quality. Of course, the mere existence of a lawsuit isn't indicative of a crime having been committed. Many will remain on their toes with regards to this particular matter, however, and they can't exactly be blamed.

Regardless as to whether or not any supposed cut content ever sees the light of day, the studio still has plans to release new offerings as time goes on. For one, free DLC is slated to arrive on an unspecified date in the early part of this year, and CD Projekt Red previously said players can anticipate larger story expansions similar to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine.
