CD Projekt Red still has plenty of important companions to reveal for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. The often delayed game is one of the most highly anticipated titles of the past few years based on early impressions and its developer's last game, The Witcher 3. A specific next-gen release date hasn't yet been confirmed, but given that both consoles now have November release dates confirmed, it could be coming soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been in the news almost constantly in 2020. As well as being pushed back several times until its current release date of November 19th, the developer has kept interest in the title high with a series of information drops over the last few months. This has included the news that the game will be backward compatible with next-gen consoles, meaning that those who buy the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can upgrade for free.

Despite the fact that CD Projekt Red has already revealed lots about Cyberpunk 2077 over the last few months, the studio has no confirmed there are still lots of important companions to be showcased. Speaking in a YouTube video, CD Projekt Red senior quest designer Philipp Weber explained that there are some companions that have not yet been revealed and that each of them "are very important to the story." By the sound of it, the number of companions still be to shown off is quite high, with Weber saying that "there's lots of them, and quite important ones that we haven't shown yet." The developer also gave out some new details about what role companions will play in the upcoming game.

"Some of these characters, depending on your choices, you might like and they might like you. And some of those characters might become your enemies. We are making a role-playing game, it's all up to you."

More recently, CD Projekt Red had to deny rumors that Cyberpunk 2077 would feature microtransactions after the studio previously promised that in-game purchases would not be part of the experience. Confusion had seemingly arisen from the fact that the multiplayer portion of Cyberpunk 2077 is actually considered a separate game. The developer confirmed that this multiplayer release would have microtransactions but that none would be present in the singleplayer campaign.

While CD Projekt Red has shown off quite a lot of Cyberpunk 2077, it is still nice knowing that there are plenty of surprises in store for players. Companions are always an important part of role-playing games, so knowing that the upcoming title will also feature lots of different characters for players to interact with is reassuring. After all, one of the key aspects of Cyberpunk 2077 demos so far has been interactions with NPCs, so it seems like they'll make up a significant part of the game.
