Tribes of Midgard, is an interesting mashup of a few different genres of games. While the setting is clearly inspired by Valheim, it also borrows from top-down ARPGs and base defense games. Similar to Valheim, the game does encourage a cooperative multiplayer experience, but the game differs by providing players with an initial village and objective to defend, instead of having the players create their own housing. The game also eliminates the need to eat and sleep since the player's character is an immortal warrior from Valhalla. While eliminating these mechanics may deter some of the more survival-oriented fans, it does not detract from the fact that there is still lots to upgrade and discover in the game. Ultimately, the game offers a bright world with lots to explore and many resources to farm.

Cut stone, one of the most important resources in the game, is scarcely found throughout the map, but can be somewhat easily crafted in the player's village. Cut stone is necessary to build up the defenses around the player's village, slowing down the nightly onslaught. However, the cut stone is not to be mistaken with regular stone and cannot simply be mined in the area surrounding the player's village. For players looking to find an in-depth guide on how to quickly craft cut stone in Tribes of Midgard, stay tuned to the next section of this guide.

How to get Cut Stone in Tribes of Midgard

Although cut stone is not available directly at the start in Tribes of Midgard, it can still be unlocked within the first hour of a new game. The first thing players should do when they load into a new world, is search around for branches, flint, and souls. While the first two items can be found dropped all around the map, souls must be earned by doing various things. However, souls are definitely not rare, they are acquired every time the player harvests a resource or defeats an enemy. Once players have acquired some of the aforementioned resources, they should then find Eyrun the Tinker in their initial village.

Players should be introduced to Eyrun in the game's tutorial, but for those who are unsure how to find her, she is represented by a crossed sword and pickaxe on the map. Players will notice that Eyrun provides two options. The first option, crafting, allows the player to craft a lumber axe and also a pickaxe, which they should do. Crafting at least the pickaxe will allow the player to collect the iron needed for swords, which are vital to defeating enemies and earning souls. The second option Eyrun provides, upgrading is when the souls come into play.

Essentially, souls count as a resource used to level up merchants like Eyrun and, in order to gain the ability to craft stone, Eyrun must be upgraded to level 3 by depositing a total of 750 souls. Using the sword, players can easily find souls by exploring the map and completing quests. Players should also take note that all 750 souls need not be collected at once. Players can actually intermittently deposit their souls into whichever vendor they are attempting to upgrade. In fact, due to the game's rogue-lite elements, dying with a plethora of souls can actually be a huge setback for any player.

Great places to find souls in Tribes of Midgard are actually in the treasure chests located at Helthing encampments around the map. While searching for these treasure chests, players should continue harvesting any stone and flint they might see on the ground. The encampments themselves are represented by little campfire symbols on the map, but players should take note that not every encampment guarantees a treasure chest. Fortunately, players need only find one or two chests in order to earn about 500 souls. Finally, after sufficiently leveling up Eyrun, players will need to have a fair amount of both regular stone and flint on them. In order to create just 1 block or instance of cut stone, players will need 8 regular stones and 6 flints. Once the cut stone has been acquired players can feel free to use it to bolster their villages defenses and defend their seed of Yggdrasil.
