A new trailer has arrived for comedian Larry David’s wildly popular HBO series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, reminding us all that season 9 is on its way. Fans have been waiting patiently for a ninth season ever since season 8 finished back in 2011. Last summer, after years of rumors and teasing, HBO was finally able to confirm that Larry David’s ongoing saga of hilarity and misery would indeed be returning in 2017, prompting much glee from diehard fans.

Now, as we edge closer to the show's October return date, we have been treated to the second Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9 trailer. True to the form of its predecessor, nothing is given away about this season's plot, but the trailer does serve to highlight Larry David’s status as a giant of comedy and a cult figure of tremendous proportion.

The new Curb Your Enthusiasm trailer (above) arrives courtesy of HBO’s YouTube channel and casts Larry David as a superhero in the vein of Batman, whose very own Bat-Light has been modified to beam the image of David’s grimacing mug into the skies above. The end result is hardly superhero worthy, as David shrugs off the call to duty, before bluntly telling a nagging follow-up caller, “Turn the light off, I’m not going.” Classic Larry David, indeed.

Also hidden in the trailer are Easter eggs that any true Curb fan will immediately identify, each of which pertains to past episodes of the series. A discarded sandwich board that reads “I Steal Forks From Restaurants” is seen straight away, referencing "The Massage" episode from season two; a dilapidated theater with a marquee that reads “Mr Simmington” is from the season eight episode “The Hero”, starring Ricky Gervais; Al Abbas Original Best Chicken restaurant, which is from the “Palestinian Chicken” episode in season eight, is clearly visible; and “Respect Wood” is graffitied on an alley wall - a nod to the absurdity of Larry being blamed for a ring on Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ table, in the “Seinfeld” episode of season seven.

In spite of the recent HBO hacks, Curb Your Enthusiasm is still doing a great job of keeping fans guessing about this new season. Six years is a long time in which to compile ideas for new episodes, so hopefully Larry David will be bringing fans something unlike anything they’ve seen before from Curb. There’s no telling how much longer the series will continue on for and as things currently stand, there’s no word as to whether or not season nine will be the show’s final bow.

For now, fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm will have to be content watching and re-watching the glimpses of season nine that they’ve been provided with. There isn’t much more of a wait left until Larry, Jeff, Leon and the rest of the hilarious cast are back - and if past seasons are any indication, Larry isn’t likely to come out on top. Of course, that’s all part of the fun of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
