Studio MDHR has released the first teaser trailer for the Cuphead DLC "The Delicious Last Course." Cuphead is an indie video game inspired by the surrealist rubber hose style animation from the 1930s. In the title, one or two players take on the role of Cuphead and his brother, Mugman, who have to pay back their debt to society by fighting through a variety of levels, each ending in a tough boss fight. Although that might sound simple on paper, Cuphead was anything but: gamers both love and hate it for its increasingly challenging, and sometimes almost impossible, levels.

Cuphead initially released exclusively for the Xbox One and PC in 2017. It went on to sell millions of copies and earned many awards from industry publications and organizations, proving that it was the little game that could. It was also such a hit that Funko even decided to turn Cuphead into a cereal. In 2018, Microsoft officially announced that Cuphead would get more content, a piece of DLC titled "The Delicious Last Course." This content will take players to a new island, as well as introduce a playable character, Ms. Chalice, who will also be playable through the original campaign.

Studio MDHR released the first teaser trailer for the Cuphead DLC, showing players a little of what they can expect with gameplay, including Ms. Chalice, new levels and even tougher bosses. Unfortunately, players shouldn't expect the new content anytime soon. Although "The Delicious Last Course" was supposed to release in 2019, Studio MDHR has delayed its launch until 2020 to "ensure that it's cooked to perfection."

Although Cuphead was initially intended as an Xbox One exclusive on consoles, it recently got a port to Switch, further signifying the growing relationship between Microsoft and Nintendo, that could also include Xbox Game Pass coming to Switch. Switch Cuphead players will also get access to the new DLC when it releases.

Cuphead stands as a perfect example of how indie studios can create games that are equally as good, if not better, than AAA titles by doing something ambitious and different. Cuphead will continue to find success on multiple platforms, and the new DLC will keep players interested in the title. Here's hoping that Studio MDHR continues to grow more content for the game for years to come. In the meantime, fans can continue to support the developers' wish to get the Cuphead characters added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
