The evil Good Guy doll  is back with a vengeance in the first trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller, Cult of Chucky. The film marks the seventh chapter in the long-running Chucky series, which began in 1988 with the horror hit Child’s Play. An innocent looking toy from the popular "Good Guy" line, the doll in the original film was purchased for Andy (Alex Vincent), but unbeknownst to the boy and his family it came with a horrifying bonus: the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif). As the doll, dubbed "Chucky," came to life, it dispatched any human that got in his way as he attempted to transfer his presence into his young owner's body.

Capitalizing on the popularity of the original, two sequels immediately followed Child's Play, including 1990's Child's Play 2, and 1991's Child's Play 3. The franchise took a seven-year break before returning with Bride of Chucky (co-starring Jennifer Tilly as Chucky's mate, Tiffany) in 1998, and the killer plaything's has only appeared intermittently after that, resurfacing in 2004 with Seed of Chucky, and nearly a decade later with Curse of Chucky in 2013.

Following a Cult of Chucky announcement trailer setting up the film as it went into production earlier this year, Chucky (aka, Andy's "Friend Till the End") is back and murder is still on his mind in the trailer for Cult of Chucky, which is skipping the theatrical route and debuting on Blu-ray, DVD and digital Oct. 2. Reprising her role from Curse of Chucky, Fiona Dourif (Brad Dourif's real-life daughter) is back as Nica Pierce, who is locked in an asylum for the criminally insane after she is mistakenly convinced that Chucky is a fantasy and delusion, and that she's the one responsible for her family's murders. However, after a therapist introduces a Good Guy doll as means of helping Nica and other patients work out their inner demons, Chucky once again makes his presence known as bodies start dropping around him.

Like its predecessor, Cult of Chucky marks another family reunion of sorts - because in addition to Brad and Fiona Dourif, the film includes Tilly and Vincent, who reprise their roles as Tiffany and Andy, respectively. With the core cast firmly in place, the trailer for Cult of Chucky looks incredibly promising, creating an unnerving atmosphere for its entire 1 minute, 37 second run time. By the looks of the trailer, Cult of Chucky promises a lot of shocking horror; but punctuating the bloody proceedings once again is Brad Dourif, whose distinct voice and hilarious one-liners has largely driven the film series' popularity.

Cult of Chucky also marks the return of filmmaker Don Mancini, the creator of the franchise who wrote the screenplays for the first five Child's Play movies before assuming screenwriting and directing duties for Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. Mancini will be naturally be providing a commentary track (along with head puppeteer Tony Gardner) for the Cult of Chucky Blu-ray and DVD, which will include two featurettes -- one on the making of the film and the other on Alterian, the studio that provided the puppeteering for the film.
