The Crown Season 5 Gets Closer To The Present Day

As The Crown jumps in time yet again, it is beginning to cover events that are more and more recent. This will naturally include the tragic death of Princess Diana following her divorce from Prince Charles. The life of Diana has been covered in quite a few different projects recently, including the Pablo Larraín biographical drama Spencer and the Netflix recorded production of Diana: The Musical, but The Crown seems prepared to provide their inimitable spin on the material.

In the wake of the recent news of Queen Elizabeth II's death, many have wondered if The Crown will run all the way to the end of its main character's life. However, the creator has already stated that the series will be staying away from current events, including the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and all the royal infighting that followed. The series is getting more modern than it has ever been, but it will still be remaining firmly in the past as it reaches its conclusion.
