Crowfall has finally arrived on PC after a six-year crowdfunding process that far surpassed its initial goal. Crowfall plays similarly to other popular MMORPGs with some key differences. Getting started in Crowfall can be daunting, but with the right information, players can decide how best to hop into the adventure. Like many other MMORPGs, players have a choice between several character races and classes.

The classes in Crowfall fall into one of three categories: The fighter, the mage, and the rogue. Fighter classes rush into battle, typically doing melee damage to enemies up close. Mage classes put distance between the player and the enemy, with a focus on healing, buffs and debuffs, and area of effect spells. Rogue classes, like Rangers, take on enemies from all directions, focusing on various tactics like stealth to come out on top. This guide focuses on builds for the Knight class.

The Best Builds and Promotions for The Knight Class in Crowfall

The Knight class is a typical warriorlike class that takes the fight directly to the enemy. Knights are typically best suited for DPS, tank, and crowd control builds due to the Knight’s available promotions.  Promotions are subclasses with different specializations for the Knight class. The three promotions available to Knights are Swordsman, Sentinel, and Secutor. Swordsman is a pure DPS build that utilizes swordplay, the Sentinel wields a mace to serve as a crowd control build, and the Secutor is a typical tank build that specializes in shield attacks.

Swordsman Promotion

Players who choose the Swordsman promotion should predictably use swords as their best weapon of choice. Critical strikes are important for Swordsmen, with abilities like Oath of Will and Obliterate increasing critical strike chances against enemies. Swordsmen also have an altered Pursuit with a reduced cooldown and an altered Obliterate with a 100% critical strike chance. Swordsmen learn an exclusive move, Valorous Strike, which grants execute damage and lifesteal in a 2-piece combo. The Swordsman has access to the War, Death, or Battle Domain. The best major disciplines for the Swordsman are Master of Swords and Stalwart. The best minor disciplines are Restoration Strike, Finish Him, and Brutal Slam.

Sentinel Promotion

The Sentinel promotion is heavy on crowd control, with a specialization in maces. Players with a Sentinel build have access to moves that stun and root enemies in place to control large groups. The passive for this build increases movement speed and grants a damage buff if the player stuns or knocks down enemies with a mace equipped. Sentinel’s altered Noble Blood suppresses enemies and their Chain Attack roots enemies in place. Sentinels also gain access to Paralyzing Shout, an AoE knockdown move. These abilities assure the Sentinel is keeping enemies off-balance and vulnerable. The Sentinel has access to the Battle, Justice, or Music Domain. The best major disciplines for the Sentinel are Master of Maces and Mudman. The best minor disciplines are Illusory Shield, Thornshield, and Brutal Slam. Teamed up with a healer like a Cleric, the Sentinel can effectively control entire mobs of enemies.

Secutor Promotion

The Secutor build is a tank build that can wear plate armor. Secutors, like a typical tank class, have extra HP and superb blocking abilities. Secutors utilize shields to take damage from enemies and direct it away from other players with less defensive builds. The Secutor’s passive ability grants a bonus damage buff while above 70% health, while Secutor’s altered Oath of Will reduces the cost of maintaining block by 75%. The altered Pursuit also applies a barrier to the player, further increasing their effectiveness as tanks. The Secutor has access to the Protection, Justice, or Nature domain. The best major disciplines for the Secutor are Shield Master and Stalwart. The best minor disciplines are Brutal Slam, Illusory Shield, and Thornshield. No matter what Knight build players choose, the Knight is always a useful asset in the battlefields of Crowfall.
