Which song by HAIM and Jack Black is featured in The Croods 2? DreamWorks Animation’s prehistoric-set franchise began in 2013 with the release of the first Croods. The original film follows a family of Neanderthals – including patriarch Grug Crood (Nicolas Cage), his wife Ugga (Catherine Keener), and their teenage daughter Eep (Emma Stone) – as they’re forced to search for a new home after their cave is destroyed during an earthquake. They’re joined in their quest by evolved cave-boy Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who soon becomes a love interest for Eep, much to Grug’s consternation.

A follow-up titled The Croods: A New Age (AKA The Croods 2) eventually arrived in 2020. The sequel found its titular clan stumbling across an idyllic walled-off settlement that would make the perfect new home if it weren’t for the fact its founders – the more technologically advanced and snobby Bettermans – were living there. It too was a hit thanks to its talented voice cast which featured returning cast members and several new additions including Peter Dinklage, Leslie Mann and Kelly Marie Tran as members of the Betterman family.

The Croods: A New Age had a star-studded soundtrack too. Most of its music was composed by Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh whose other work includes creating the Rugrats theme tune and writing music for shows like Tiger King and What We Do In The Shadows. The movie’s soundtrack also features contributions from Jack Black who was brought on board thanks to his friendship with Mothersbaugh, according to an interview between The Croods 2 director Joel Crawford and Animation Scoop. Part of Black’s work on The Croods 2 soundtrack was a song written by Mothersbaugh that the Tenacious D frontman recorded with girl band HAIM titled “We Are Here Together.” Check out HAIM and Jack Black’s Croods 2 song below.

“We Are Here Together” isn’t the only song by HAIM or Jack Black that features on The Croods 2 soundtrack. Black also recorded a cover of The Partridge Family song “I Think I Love You” for the sequel alongside his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass. Similarly, HAIM recorded a track titled “Feel The Thunder” which went on to receive a nomination for Best Original Song In An Animated Film at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

HAIM and Jack Black’s Croods 2 song isn’t the first or last time the musical talents have worked together either. In 2019, Jack Black and HAIM contributed tracks to a festive album titled Hannukah+ produced by Grammy-winning music supervisor Randall Poster and – more recently- HAIM re-enacted the Tenacious D skit/song “Drive-Thru” in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the band’s self-titled 2001 album.
