Though Critical Role is nearing its 230th episode and clearly has no shortage of content to watch, it's not the only quality Dungeons & Dragons stream out there. Fans of Critical Role who find themselves caught up are likely always on the lookout for other great D&D shows to tune into, and there are plenty of other great podcasts and livestreams to keep them busy.

The cast and crew of Critical Role are undoubtedly some of the best of the best when it comes to high-quality D&D content. This is, in no small way, thanks to Matt Mercer's skill as a DM. Mercer is not only a fair Dungeon Master but a fantastic storyteller.

These two qualities are especially hard to match, but the DMs in the following livestreams and podcasts share them in their own right. The shows included are listed alphabetically, not ranked in order of quality.

D&D Shows Like Critical Role: Arcane Arcade

D&D Podcasts Like Critical Role Arcane Arcade

One of the smaller outfits, Arcane Arcade is a YouTube channel that's hosted a variety of campaigns. Original campaigns like Tesseract and Sunder can be found there, along with pre-written campagns like Curse of Strahd and Ghosts of Saltmarsh. The games are usually run by Jacob Budz or Logan Reese (though they switch it up occasionally), both of which run their own personal YouTube channels, as well (XP to Level 3Runesmith, respectively).

Budz and Reese run mostly casual, comedic games on Arcane Arcade, and both are talented Dungeon Masters that deserve more recognition. Everyone involved clearly works hard on making their Dungeons & Dragons streams as high-quality as possible, and, on top of that, the channel uploads very frequently. Arcane Arcade is currently streaming Tomb of Annihilation on its YouTube channel, as well as uploading the streams there afterwards.

D&D Shows Like Critical Role: High Rollers

D&D Podcasts Like Critical Role High Rollers

Based in the UK, High Rollers (High Rollers DnD on Twitch and YouTube) tends to go live on Sundays at 12 PM ET. High Rollers is run by Mark Hulmes, who has been a guest on Critical Role. Those who've seen Mark's appearances on CR might be familiar with High Rollers already, but, if not, the show is definitely worth watching. Hulmes runs original campaigns like Aerois (which is rumored to have its own campaign book in the future) but has been running Curse of Strahd recently, as well.

High Rollers also did an Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden one-shot about, and the show is available as a podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. For those into quality Dungeons and Dragons content (and real English accents), this is an easy recommendation. Hulmes is fair and hilarious, and the other cast members are talented, as well.

D&D Shows Like Critical Role: Not Another D&D Podacast

D&D Podcasts Like Critical Role NADDPOD

Not Another D&D Podcast (no really, that's what it's called) features Brian Murphy as its main Dungeon Master. The cast includes former CollegeHumor employees Emily Axford (who also occasionally DMs), Jake Hurwitz, and Caldwell Tanner. NADDPOD can be found on the show's website and on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Seeing as its cast and DM consist of professional comedians and writers, it should come as no surprise that Not Another D&D Podcast is quite funny, and Murphy is a gifted storyteller and quite good at character voices.

A few more quality Dungeons and Dragons podcasts/livestream recommendations include D&D is for Nerds (on Apple Podcasts and Sanspants Radio's website), D&D Beyond's streams (DnDBeyond on Twitch), and Gilding Light (their website, GildingLight on Twitch), which features Satine Phoenix as its Dungeon Master. Hopefully fans of Critical Role will find some new content to watch and listen to here. Whichever Dungeons & Dragons show is chosen, it's hard to go wrong.
