Critical Role is releasing unpainted & individually packaged figurines of characters and monsters from the web series’ universe. Wizkids, the producer of the Critical Role miniatures as well as miniatures for many other tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons and HeroClix, initially announced the new collection of unpainted figure packs for the popular web series last May. The company released 3D renders of the new miniatures, which include characters and monsters from Critical Role.

The popular Dungeons & Dragons-based web series recently held its latest campaign dubbed "Exandria Unlimited." The mini-adventure took place across the titular Exandria, the same world where the group’s previous campaigns were also set. This time around, only some of Critical Role’s main cast was involved in "Exandria Unlimited," namely Ashley Johnson, Liam O'Brien, and Matthew Mercer. The trio was joined by fellow voice actors Aimee Carrero and Robbie Daymond while Aabria Iyengar, who has guested on Critical Role before, took the helm as the campaign's Game Master.

WizKids has published more details and actual images of the first wave of Critical Role unpainted miniatures on its website. There are 21 miniature packs in the collection, which is set for release sometime in October 2021, with most including at least two figurines. Some of the character packs include a Human Clovis Concord Cleric, a Dwarf Dwendalian Empire Fighter, and Half-Elf Echo Knight and Echo, among many others. As for the monster, they include packs for a Core Spawn Emissary and Seer, Husk Zombies, a Gloomstalker, a Swavain Basilisk, and more.

According to WizKids, the miniatures, which will come in mostly clear packaging for easier previewing, will require little to no assembly and are already pre-primed for easier painting. They also feature deeper sculpts for better detail and easier painting, with a few of the figurines including translucent parts that players can opt to either paint or leave as is. The character packs will be priced at $4.99 each while the monster packs will range from $4.99, $8.99, and $14.99.

While this new collection is the first time the company will be releasing unpainted Critical Role miniatures, it isn’t the first time WizKids has produced figurines for the show. The manufacturer previously released several boxed sets of painted Critical Role miniatures featuring the monsters and characters of Wildemount, the setting of Critical Role’s "The Mighty Nein" campaign. The company also recently announced new pre-painted sets that are set to come out in November 2021, with characters and monsters from the "Vox Machina" campaign’s continent of Tal'Dorei.

Fans of Critical Role who want to be able to put their own touch on the characters and monsters of Exandria, whether they’re simply collectors or are interested in starting their own campaigns based on the world that the show has created, will finally be able to do so with this new miniature collection when it comes out in September. While those who simply want the figurines without having to paint them can opt for either the already available Critical Role pre-painted box sets or the ones that are coming out later this year.
