Fans of the beloved Dungeons & Dragons-based web series Critical Role are about to have the fan-favorite Mighty Nein campaign immortalized courtesy of Dark Horse Comics. Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at the series' upcoming release, Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Coloring Book.
Critical Role is a popular web series that features professional voice actors playing the popular roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons. After playing a campaign for voice actor Liam O'Brien's birthday, the group began playing longer games, eventually streaming their sessions online. It wasn't long before their streams took on a fandom and Critical Role was born. Since the web series' creation, Critical Role has expanded, with the show receiving its own campaign-setting guides and even having its campaigns' lore explored in several tie-in comics. Critical Role's first campaign was even adapted as The Legend of Vox Machina, an animated series for Amazon Prime.
While Critical Role's second campaign has yet to receive an animated adaptation, it's crew and their adventures are getting an exciting publication that should thrill any Dungeons & Dragons fan. Screen Rant is excited to reveal details about Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Coloring Book. The book comes from Dark Horse Comics and features 45 pages of all-new art by artists CoupleofKooks, Olivia Samson, Aviv Or, Cait May, and Selina Espiritu. The coloring book features scenes handpicked by the cast of Critical Role and features the characters Beauregard Lionett, Mollymauk Tealeaf, Jester Lavorre, Caleb Widogast, Fjord Stone, Yasha Nydoorin, Nott the Brave/Veth Brenatto, and Caduceus Clay in their various travels across Exandria. Fans are encouraged to post their own colorings of Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Coloring Book's pages on social media with the tag '#dhcolors'.
Critical Role's Coloring Book Brings The Mighty Nein To Life
This is actually the second coloring book that Critical Role has received from Dark Horse Comics, as the publisher has previously put out one based on the Vox Machina campaign. And the artists selected for this project are no accident, as several of them have experience working on previous Critical Role material. For example, Olivia Samson was the artist for Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volumes 1 and 2 while CoupleofKooks was one of the interior artists for Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Coloring Book has plenty of familiar styles that fans will be able to customize themselves.
One of the biggest draws for a roleplaying game like Dungeons & Dragons is the ability to fashion a world as players see fit.
