Critical Role is a long-running Dungeons & Dragons campaign, well-known and loved within the tabletop community. It originally launched in 2015 by Geek and Sundry, and has since broadcast two full campaigns, several mini campaigns, and a series of one-shots. Matthew Mercer is the Game Master, and regular players include Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Taliesin Jaffe and Travis Willingham.

There are two primary Critical Role campaigns, each following the quests of a group of adventurers. The first campaign, called Vox Machina, follows a party of heroes by the same name in their adventures through the continent of Tal'Dorei. The second campaign, set on the continent Wildemount, follows the antics of a new group called the Mighty Nein. In addition to the series regulars, Critical Role often features guest players, including Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton and Ashly Burch, among others.

Critical Role wrapped its season two campaign June 3 after a staggering 141 episodes. Almost immediately, fans began to speculate when a third campaign would launch and what new story it would tell. On June 10, the Critical Role team announced a new, eight episode campaign called Exandria Unlimited would launch on June 24.

Everything About Critical Role's Exandria Unlimited

Critical Role Exandria Unlimited Mini-Campaign Dungeons Dragons

Exandria is the planet where the Critical Role story is set. While the two campaigns primarily take place on the continents Tal'Dorei and Wildemount, other known continents are Issylra, Marquet and the Shattered Teeth. While "Unlimited" in the campaign title implies anywhere connected to Exandria is possible for the story, the Critical Role website confirmed Exandria Unlimited will start in Tal'Dorei, specifically in its capital city Emon.

The players in this new story are Critical Role regulars Ashley Johnson, Liam O'Brien, and Matthew Mercer, joined by Aimee Carrero and Robbie Daymond. Their characters have not yet been revealed. Aabria Iyengar, who guest-starred in the Critical Roll The Elder Scrolls Online one-shot, will take the helm as Game Master.

Exandria Unlimited takes place in the year 842, approximately six years after the Mighty Nein campaign and 30 years after Vox Machina. Emon has mostly recovered from the attack of the Chroma Conclave from the Vox Machina campaign, with two exceptions - The Cloudtrop District bears a fiery entrance to the caverns below Thordak's Crater, and the Scar of the Cinder King is still active on the outskirts of the city.

On its website, the Critical Role team gave assurances that while the setting of Exandria Unlimited would be familiar to longtime fans of the series, "that's all a backdrop to a new story," providing an easy point of entry for new Critical Role audiences. Those interested in watching the new adventure can catch it June 24 at 7 p.m. PT on the Critical Role Twitch and YouTube channels.
