Will Rob Lowe Co-Star In 'Criminal Minds' Spin-Off?

Only a week after we brought you the news of Forest Whitaker signing on to star in a spin-off of Criminal Minds comes an interesting rumor that just might have some merit. It seems as if Rob Lowe might also be signing on to the series as a co-star. Rob Lowe would be the Thomas Gibson to Forest Whitaker. Now that would make for one killer series. (No pun intended… unless you found it funny then it was obviously intended.)

With Rob Lowe leaving ABC’s hit show Brothers & Sisters, he’s going to have some time on his hands and last month ABC’s president Steve McPherson said, "We would like to keep Rob at ABC; we feel he should be anchoring his own franchise. We are in talks now."

Now, what does this news have to do with Criminal Minds since the show is on CBS? Well, even though Criminal Minds is broadcast on CBS, it’s actually produced by ABC and since Criminal Minds is a ratings smash, someone like Rob Lowe might be interested in playing number 2, especially to Forest Whitaker.

While nobody in either camp is confirming Lowe’s jump to behavioral analyst, sources close to the deal say it’s a very real possibility… and if you can’t trust sources close to the deal, who can you trust?

With the Criminal Minds pilot set to start filming February 17th, it looks like we won’t have to wait too long before we find out.

What say you? Could there be any better team to star in a Criminal Minds spin-off than Rob Lowe and Forest Whitaker? Could it be better than the original?

Expect to see the Criminal Minds spin-off pilot to air this spring as the 18th episode of the original Criminal Minds series.
