Joe Mantegna shares a new update regarding filming for the Criminal Minds reboot with the BAU's signature saying. FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit is returning to the small screen just a couple of years since the team wrapped up its run on CBS. This time, however, the BAU will continue their adventures on Paramount+ with a full 10-episode season order.

Getting the Criminal Minds reboot show off the ground was no easy feat. Despite being officially announced in 2021, it was deemed cancelled just a few months later, and it wasn't until mid-2022 that Paget Brewster confirmed it was moving forward. Soon after that, Mantegna shared an image of him visiting the BAU headquarters set being rebuilt. Now, filming is already in full swing. Instead of spending hunting down one UnSub per outing, the profilers will spend the whole year working on a single case.

In a new video on the set of the project, Mantegna shares his excitement for the Criminal Minds reboot. According to the caption of his post, he and the rest of the project's cast are on day 2 of filming. He then caps off the brief clip by using the BAU's iconic phrase: "Wheels up!" Check out the video below:

Filming for the reboot started during the second week of August, which Brewster confirmed with the first Criminal Minds season 16 Prentiss image. No one else has shared content from their days back to work until Mantegna did, but like his co-star's social media post, there is no additional information about what or where they are filming. In any case, it has already been confirmed that the show will see the BAU tracking down an UnSub who took advantage of the coronavirus pandemic and created a network of criminals that will keep the team busy throughout the season. For Prentiss, her personal arc includes navigating office politics once again as the BAU chief. Beyond that, it's uncertain at this point, but considering its storytelling format in Paramount+, it should allow the series to delve into the profilers' personal lives as well.

It's great to hear Mantegna say "Wheel's up," simply because Rossi gets to say it very rarely in the show. For the longest time, Aaron Hotchner would deliver it, and when he left and was replaced by Prentiss as the new BAU chief, it became her phrase. Rossi only got the chance to deliver it on Criminal Minds when she isn't around to join the early case huddle. Considering the destruction of the BAU's jet, however, in the season 15 finale, the team will be needing a new one when they make their streaming debut.
