Warning! SPOILERS for Criminal Minds: Evolution.Criminal Minds: Evolution episode 3 may have secretly revealed what Elias Voit's endgame is. The Behavioral Analysis Unit's (BAU) return to the small screen marks the beginning of a brand new case. Unlike their previous missions, however, the profilers are facing a whole network of serial killers led by the elusive, Voit. A Seattle-based tech specialist, he lives a double life being a devoted family man and a ruthless murderer. As the BAU works to capture him, Criminal Minds: Evolution also reveals more information about him and, in the process, subtly hints at his final plan.

As Voit struggles to keep his life together after a series of setbacks, not to mention his worsening temptation to commit murders, he talks to one of his followers who raised concerns about the BAU closing in on them. He assured him that he has a way out — by the time the FBI figures out their operation, the network will be down and so will he. This suggests that at the end of this whole scheme in the Criminal Minds revival officially titled "Evolution," Voit's endgame is to kill himself as well. This fits with his whole manifesto which mandates his subordinates to kill themselves instead of getting caught.

Criminal Minds: Evolution Is Making Voit One Of The Worst UnSubs

In the original Criminal Minds show, each episode is devoted to hunting down a single UnSub. Given this, there was limited time to establish their motivations and processes. Things are different in Paramount+’s version of the police procedural. Because the whole Criminal Minds: Evolution season is devoted to only Voit and his network of serial killers, the series can really delve into his origins and psyche. This effectively makes him worse than his predecessors. Seeing him live a rather uneventful life with a loving family and then discovering his criminal tendencies is really disturbing.

Why Voit Dying Is The Only Way To End Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 1

Since Voit's manifesto on Paramount+’s Criminal Minds: Evolution chooses death over being caught, it only makes sense that it's something that he truly believes in himself and not something that he subjects his subordinates to. Aside from this, however, considering the sheer number of murders he has committed on top of instituting a serial killer network, seeing him being arrested and jailed doesn’t seem to be enough punishment for everything he did. In any case, given his strong killing urges, he could find a way to re-establish a network in prison which will be another problem for the BAU.

If Voit’s endgame is to really kill himself, he may already have a final murder victim in mind. It may be someone that he’s been harboring a grudge against, like his rude neighbor. Hopefully, however, before he can carry it out, the BAU is able to finally track him down on Criminal Minds: Evolution.
