It has been a fun Crime Scene Kitchen season one, and we're here to discuss the show's most memorable fails so far. Bakers from the series dove into the prepared kitchens, armed with black gloves and their powers of observation. They have had fun along the way but had a few epic problems, including baking disasters and failed guesses.

Sometimes. Crime Scene Kitchen clues aren't easy to figure out. Countless times, bakers find themselves looking into the wrong tins or garbage bags. Everyone groaned when they learned that an empty coffee cup had significance, but not in the way that they had thought. People who watched Game of Thrones would agree about the coffee cup.

In particular, Thomas looked livid when he realized that a particular "clue" ingredient expired over eighty years ago, making it a red herring. Cathy (his mother and his teammate) agreed with him on that. She said she keeps no ingredient for that long in her house.

Crime Scene Kitchen Epic Fails

One major epic fail is when a dessert completely misses the mark. Early episodes showed that following the crowd is better than trying to stand out. A team can't afford to be creative or make a wild guess. Teammates need to examine all clues, find red herrings, and listen to any hints that the judges are dropping during the show.

Natasha And Anthony With Cannoli Confusion

Natasha and Anthony did that in episode 2, not understanding the desserts at all. When faced with clues that hinted towards a deep-fried dessert, Anthony insisted that it couldn't be cannoli, which every other team made. He has an Italian grandmother, like Italian baker Buddy Valastro, and the ingredients didn't hint at cannoli. Instead, he and Natasha made a variety of donuts. The judges said that they missed the dessert and that the donuts were mismatched. They advised the couple to focus on one bake and do it well, rather than cover their bases with multiple options. Anthony had the appropriate response: "If my grandmother were here now, she would smack me."

The Clues Led Contestants Astray... And Led to "Pie Soup"

In other cases, a pie would not set properly due to a wrong ingredient. Erinn and Amanda suffered this fate in episode one; they mistakenly assumed the dessert was a lemon chiffon pie, owing to smelling lemons. They failed to notice that the pie tins were unused and that the counters had chocolate crumbs or almond shavings. Viewers concluded that Erinn and Amanda had smelled lemon soap. The two managed to redeem themselves in the showstopper round and avoided elimination. The host Joel McHale has seen pies that failed to set twice and sardonically referred to the incidents as "pie soup".

Making Apple Soup Instead Of Blueberry Pie

Cory and Donte also had a similar situation with pie, and viewers did sympathize from home. After seeing cinnamon in the kitchen in the episode before the quarter-finals, they assumed the pie required for the challenge was apple-flavored. It ended up being blueberry, owing to a lattice piece crust cutter being found and used. The judges noted that they failed to bake the apples before putting them in the oven, though the duo had the foresight to make two pies. They gave the best pie to the judges. As predicted, the apple juices had refused to solidify with the filling, turning it into mush. They narrowly avoided elimination that day.

A Red Herring Coffee Cup

The biggest mistake in the baking competition was by a mother-daughter duo. Rebecca and Jean did their best but revealed that it was hard to work under that kind of pressure. In one case, they saw a challenge with an empty coffee mug and hints of sour cream. Missing the peeled mango on the counter, Rebecca and Jean made a coffee cake. The judges admitted that the cake was delicious. No one can afford failure in the finals or quarter-finals. They need to be ready to observe, and their Crime Scene Kitchen desserts must be top-notch.
