15 Craziest Age Differences In Hollywood Couples

Huge age gaps between celebrities and their significant others are nothing new, but these relationships are usually one-sided with the celebrity dating or marrying someone nobody has ever heard of before. Then there are those rare occurrences where two famous folks get together regardless of their age differences and the world looks on wondering how exactly that happened.

When we are talking about age gaps, we don't mean something like five years or even fifteen. No, we are going to delve into the relationships our favorite Hollywood celebrities have gotten into that have age gaps you could pretty much fit an adult into. In some of these cases, it's hard to see how any of these relationships every happened in the first place.

We aren't going to focus on any sort of one-sided relationships by giving credence to the double-standard of older men being with younger women; we have plenty of examples of the opposite as well. That being said, the older male does make up the majority of this list, as reflected in reality.

These are the 15 Creepiest Age Differences In Hollywood Couples

You can't get much hotter in Hollywood than Sandra Bullock and Ryan Gosling. Both are incredibly attractive people with hugely successful careers so it wasn't all that surprising that they fell in love on the set of Murder by Numbers in 2002.

The reason their relationship lands them on this list of creeptastic examples isn't solely to do with the 17 year age difference, but rather, the ages of those involved at the time they got together.

When they began dating, Bullock was a modest 38 while Gosling was only 22, which doesn't seem like that young, but really... it's young. Given that they fell in love during filming, which began in February 2001, Gosling would have been 20 when they started dating.

It was just an odd couple to see walking about town given Gosling's inexplicably youthful look. Even as an adult, Gosling still looked much younger than he was. Still, you can't blame the guy-- not only is Bullock incredibly talented, she is drop-dead gorgeous, now.

When it comes to Hollywood royalty, you don't have to look much further than Jennifer Lawrence these days. She's carried billion-dollar franchises, has won the Academy Award for Best Actress, and is dating writer/director Darren Aronofsky, a man who is 21 years her senior.

The pair began dating after wrapping Mother! and it was a year before they let the world know of their relationship. They walked the red carpet together at the Venice Film Festival photocall for Mother! letting the world know they were together.

She also let slip that she lovingly calls her main squeeze "The Dark Lord", which may have some worrisome undertones, but is probably more of an inside joke between the pair.

In an odd nod to real life, Javier Bardem plays Lawrence's husband in Mother! and he happens to be the same age as  Aronofsky. A character in the film also comments that Bardem looks old enough to be Lawrence's father. Coincidence? We think not!

You may know more about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's tumultuous divorce than their actual marriage, but when they were together, everything seemed on the up-and-up.

The couple met on the set of The Rum Diary where they played each others' love interest. They didn't begin dating until several years later when Depp split from Vanessa Paradis, his partner of 14 years, in 2012.

Within two years, the couple were engaged and were then married in 2015. When they finally wed, Depp was 52 and Heard was 29 giving them an age difference of 23 years.

Their relationship was rocky at best. Heard has alleged physical and mental abuse at the hands of Depp and has even had to call the police on him. Their divorce has been the stuff of tabloid dreams and has been blowing up the gossip blogs. Heard donated her settlement money to charity.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been blowing up all over Hollywood the past decade or so with roles in Kick-Ass, Godzilla, and Anna Karenina, while his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson has been working in the field for less time with her directorial debut being Death Valley in 2006. However, Sam preceded Aaron in life by 24 years.

The creepiest aspect of this relationship has to be the age of Aaron and his future bride-to-be when they began dating. They met on the set of Nowhere Boy when he was only 18 and she was 42. Given that he was barely out of childhood when they started dating, more than a single eyebrow was raised.

By the time the movie was set to premiere in October of 2009, they announced their engagement and got married in June 2012. At that time, they both changed their names to Taylor-Johnson, which they have been using professionally since that time.

The marriage between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas surprised a lot of people when they first heard of their relationship in 2000. At the time, Jones was 31 and lighting a fire all over Hollywood while Douglas was already a veteran actor at the age of 56, with credits including Wall Street, Romancing the Stone, and Basic Instinct.

Jones was no Hollywood slouch either. She was drawing the eyes of the Hollywood elite so her relationship with a man 25 years her senior was somewhat shocking.

When they met, Douglas used a cheesy pickup line, but it seems to have worked for the best. Douglas approached her and said, "You know, I'm going to be the father of your children." She replied, "You know, I've heard a lot about you and I've seen a lot about you, and I think it's time I say goodnight." He followed up with flowers and an apology and they have been together ever since.

Alec Baldwin married Fitness and Wellness expert Hilaria Baldwin in 2012 after initially meeting in 2011. When the two met, he asked her out immediately, but their relationship went much slower than some of the couples listed here.

At the time, Hilaria was 29 while Alec was 55 and the 26 year age difference made Hilaria hesitate. Eventually, she acquiesced and the two began seeing each other exclusively. They were married a short time later and even had a child, Alec's fourth, in very short order.

Baldwin has never been one of those Hollywood types who get married and divorced every few years. He was married to Kim Basinger for nine years and then didn't remarry until a decade had passed. Hilaria's marriage to Baldwin is her first and hopefully, her last!

David Hasselhoff may be best known for his work on Knight Rider, Baywatch, and a recent appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but his fiancee is known mostly for her modeling career... not that The Hoff hasn't done some modeling of his own over the years.

This pair has an age gap of 27 years and they are currently engaged to be married. They met when Roberts approached The Hoff in a hotel lobby while he was shooting auditions for Britain's Got Talent, a show he was judging at the time. He only agreed to take the photo with her in exchange for her phone number, which resulted in a date a few days later.

When they got engaged, The Hoff was 63 while Roberts was only 27; just five years older than Hof's daughter of the same name,.

Sarah Paulson has been dating veteran actress Holland Taylor, best known for her work in Bosom Buddies, Legally Blonde, and Two and a Half Men, since early 2015. Paulson's work in Hollywood has seen her perform in 12 Years a Slave, The Spirit, and she will play Tammy in Ocean's Eight in 2018.

The pair kept their relationship... not secret, but to themselves, until Paulson commented on it in an interview in March 2016. When they began dating, Paulson was 41 years old while Holland was a more mature 72, giving them a gap in age of 31 years.

They credit Twitter for helping bring them together. They had known each other in passing for more than a decade before Paulson Tweeted "How are you? What's happening?" They have been together ever since.

The number of years separating Emile Livingston and Jeff Goldbloom is 31, but that's never been an issue for the couple who welcomed their second child, River Joe in April of 2017.

Jeff Goldbloom is well known in Hollywood for his work on Jurassic Park, The Fly, and Independence Day. Livingston's work in the industry has been mostly behind the scenes. She was a body double for Rihanna in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and another double for Emma Stone in the film La La Land.

Outside of Hollywood, Livingston represented Canada at the 2000 Summer Games in Rhythmic Gymnastics where she placed 18th (and did not advance). She is also an accomplished dancer, aerialist, and contortionist.

When they were married in 2014, Livingston was 31 years old, making her half the age of 62-year-old Goldbloom.

Doug Hutchison was 51 years old when he married Courtney Stodden, who was 16 at the time. He received widespread criticism for marrying a child, but that didn't stop him from going through with the wedding in 2011.

Hutchison was called a pedophile and a predator for marrying Stodden, his third wife, in Las Vegas. His agent ended up dropping him, he received death threats, and his family disowned him.

After two and a half years of wedded bliss, they divorced, but reconciled, and have since separated... though they still live together.

Their 35 year age gap wasn't an issue for the couple until they publicly dealt with it in an appearance on the VH1 reality television series Couples Therapy. That was likely more about getting in front of the cameras than anything else seeing as Hutchison hasn't had a lot of acting work of late and Stodden's singing career fizzled.

Iconic Star Trek and X-Men star Patrick Stewart and his wife Sunny Ozell had been dating for years before they finally tied the knot in September 2013 in a small ceremony among family and friends. At the time of their wedding, Stewart was 74 while his wife was 35, leaving them with a 38 year age difference.

Stewart and Ozell met when she served him at a restaurant, though she now works as a singer-songwriter.

Ozell's father wasn't particularly pleased when his daughter decided to marry someone much older than he was, but he does call Stewart "son" and the two have grown to become friends.

Their family is a bit odd given that Ozell is a few years younger than her two step-children, but that's a common occurrence throughout this article.

Steven Bauer has been married four times in his life - once to Melanie Griffith back in the early 1980s - but these days, he seems to prefer younger women. He is currently dating Linda Loudon, a journalist who began seeing the veteran actor when she was just 18 years old - only two years ago.

At the time, Bauer was 57, which gives them an age gap of 39 years, and brought a great deal of criticism directed at Bauer. Journalists got to Loudon's mother, Dr. Gina Loudon, who was initially reticent to accept the relationship, but finally realized "There are worse things."

The couple has been together since 2014. Bauer is currently playing Avi on Showtime's Ray Donovan and Loudon maintains her job working as a journalist and the L3 Foundation, a non-profit she founded, which is devoted to empowering the Millenial generation.

James Woods is probably best known for his work in Casino and Family Guy, but we threw him on this list due to the 46 year age gap between him and his girlfriend, Kristen Bauguess. Bauguess began dating the much older Woods when she was only 20 and he was 46 and they are together to this day.

Their age difference has gotten several people to do a double take with comments like "“Usually I'm all ‘whatever floats your boat’ but just saw a pic of 66-yr-old James Woods & his 20-yr-old girlfriend & it is officially CREEPY” popping up on Twitter whenever the two are caught by the paparazzi. Actress Amber Tamblyn recounted a story of Woods propositioning her when she was 16 years old. When she explained her age, he said "Even better."

Dick Van Dyke's second marriage to Arlene Silver was a bit of a shocker given the 46 year age difference between the pair. Silver, a Hollywood makeup artist with more than a dozen credits, has opened up about the age difference, which clearly doesn't bother her.

“He is a lot of fun. He’s not immature in a bad way. He’s immature in a good way with the wonder of a child,” she said. “He’s just fun, he’s open-minded. He’s not stuck in his ways at all. We’re both like children. We feel like we’re both having a second childhood.”

The two were married on Leap Day in February 2012, when Van Dyke was 86 and Silver was 41. Van Dyke continues to work in Hollywood and will play Mr. Dawes Jr. in Mary Poppins Returns, a role opposite the one he played in the 1964 film, where he played Mr. Dawes Senior.

The most infamous couple on our list is has now ended, due to the passing of Hugh Hefner on September 27th, 2017. Hefner and Crystal Harris had been together since their wedding on New Year's Eve, 2012, which was the third for the founder of Playboy Magazine and the first for Crystal Harris. Harris is 27 and Hefner was 91 when he passed away.

The whopping 64 year age gap between the couple seemed like the norm for the head of the adult magazine empire. Hefner had always dated his Bunnies and occasionally married them, so few people were surprised at the union.

Now that Hef has passed, it turns out his wife won't inherit much of his estate due to an ironclad prenuptial agreement. His will promises "his children, the University of Southern California film school and a variety of charities."

What did you think of these age differences? Did any of these surprise you? Let us know in the comments!
