Plans have been revealed for a multi-platform Creed universe, including a spinoff focused on Adonis’ daughter Amara. The venerable-but-dusty Rocky franchise was in dire need of refreshing when Michael B. Jordan joined Sylvester Stallone in 2015’s Creed. Having established his own identity within the larger Rocky movie universe, Jordan by 2023 was ready to take the reins entirely, starring without Stallone in Creed 3. The Jordan-directed third Creed movie proved it could stand on its own, grossing $58 million domestically in its first weekend.

Those big Creed 3 box office numbers now have Amazon ready to bet big on Jordan and Creed, as details have just been revealed about a planned universe across TV and films. As reported by Deadline, those plans include a spinoff centered on Adonis’ deaf daughter Amara, played in Creed 3 by newcomer Mila Davis-Kent. There are also plans for an anime take on Creed - a big treat for Jordan, who took inspiration from anime in his Creed 3 directing – as well as a live-action companion show. A previously-announced Drago spinoff is also reportedly still in development, though it’s not clear if it will ultimately make the cut, as a script was only just ordered. All the above projects are in the early stages.

The Creed Universe Can Pay Off A Big Creed 3 Tease

Creed 3 was of course in large part about Adonis exorcising the ghosts of his past, while moving forward in his life with Bianca (Tessa Thompson) and daughter Amara. But amid all the action between Adonis and his opponent Damian (Jonathan Majors), the film also took time to set up a major spinoff possibility by showing Amara developing an interest in boxing.

Amara may in fact be too young in Creed 3 to seriously pursue boxing, but a time jump could easily be executed that brings her into her later teens, setting up a story where she aspires to become a professional fighter. Adonis Creed passing the torch in a future Creed sequel indeed seems like the most natural thing in the world, considering how the entire Creed trilogy is the result of a similar torch-passing from Rocky to Adonis. But having that torch be passed from Adonis to his daughter would put a major, and refreshing, spin on the whole idea.

It will be interesting to see if the Amara project indeed ever comes to fruition, and if so, how it handles the generational hand-off from father to daughter. Overall, it will be fascinating to see how much of this planned Creed universe ever advances beyond the development phase, as Amazon looks for ways to cash in on one of the biggest IPs they acquired in the MGM purchase.
