Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Teaser: Rebecca is Looking for Payback

The teaser for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 3 reveals how Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) is doing in the wake of her failed wedding to Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). When Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 1 premiered on The CW in 2015, few knew what to expect, but the series turned out to be a delightful - and musical - dramedy subverting all the tropes of romantic comedies and the dreaded "crazy ex-girlfriend." In fact, the show even garnered series co-creator and star Bloom a 2016 Golden Globe Award. Season 2 of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend built upon the foundation laid by season 1, following the rollercoaster of Rebecca and Josh's relationship and how that impacted her own mental health.

The second season of The CW's musical dramedy concluded on what was meant to be Rebecca and Josh's wedding day. However, after suffering doubts and turning to his friend Father Brah (Rene Gube) for guidance, Josh decided to become a celibate priest, leaving Rebecca at the altar - and embarrassing her in front of her family, including her absentee father. This ending to her love story with Josh paved the way for an angry, jilted Rebecca in season 3 and the first teaser for the new season indicates Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will capitalize on just that.

The CW revealed the first teaser for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 3 [above], which features Rebecca going shopping for beauty supplies dressed in a robe, slippers, and her bride hat. Fans would likely be safe in assuming, this teaser indicates Rebecca will go full Fatal Attraction in season 3.

The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend teaser features an upbeat, quirky musical track at odds with Rebecca's heartbreak, giving the promo an interesting horror-comedy tone. The show has always walked a fine line between realistic and ridiculous, with Rebecca's antics being balanced by the show acknowledging her behavior isn't necessarily normal. Additionally, the teaser features the tagline, "The new season will go to the Extreme," indicating Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will revel in Rebecca's official status as Josh's ex.

But, what remains to be seen is where we'll find the rest of the main characters on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend when season 3 beings. Will Josh still be taking his newfound religiosity seriously? Beyond Josh, Rebecca had created a life for herself in West Covina with her close friends Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin), Darryl (Pete Gardner) - and his boyfriend, White Josh (David Hull) - Heather (Vella Lovell), and Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz). Not to mention, Rebecca had a brief encounter with her new boss, Nathaniel Plimpton III (Scott Michael Foster), in season 2.

With so much going on in Rebecca's life, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 3 has plenty of material to mine for drama and comedy - and brand-new musical numbers. How Rebecca deals with her and Josh's failed relationship will likely be at the center of season 3, and if this teaser is any indication, fans will get to see an even darker side of Rebecca Bunch when she returns.
