Crash Bandicoot is one of the most beloved platforming series of all time, and fans have been enjoying the most recent release, Crash 4, which perfected the franchise's gameplay. They have been hearing the news about owner Activision and hoping for more sequels. But fans of Crash most of all discuss and love the characters.

The characters of Crash are seriously funny and charming. Nor just Crash himself, but the entire Bandicoot family and his rogues gallery feel like Saturday morning cartoon stars. Fans beg the question of which of them they’re most like. With the help of the Zodiac, these archetypal funny animals can be related to just about anyone.

Aries - Crash Bandicoot

The hero may seem initially hard to pin down since he’s nonverbal. It’s clear that he has the fiery red heart of a protagonist. Thus, he has the fiery red heart of an Aries as well. Crash is frequently the leader despite his inability to speak English.

Crash is always among the first to run into danger if his friends are in trouble. This shows his determined and courageous side. That being said, he can also be short-tempered and aggressive. This is fitting for Aries and his inspiration from classic cartoon characters.

Taurus - Coco Bandicoot

Coco Bandicoot in Crash Bandicoot 4 standing in a futuristic city.

Coco is to Crash what the character Tails is for Sonic the Hedgehog. She's player two and a little more intelligent than the wild Crash. She’s always there for him. She’s the classic responsible sibling of the duo.

She’s also very much of the spunky 90’s heroine variety. This gives her a stubbornness that fits well with Taurus. Her intelligence may be emphasized, but her loyalty and patience with her brother is her biggest strength. This puts her squarely in the Earth’s sign’s domain.

Gemini - Aku Aku

Four Aku Aku masks from Crash Bandicoot in a black model viewer.

Aku Aku is the floating magical mask that teams up with the Bandicoots. He’s somewhat of a mentor figure to Crash. His characterization even borders on fatherly at times. He has a gentleness to him that’s hard to understate.

Obviously, being a mask, he can’t unleash his full potential without a wearer. This makes him perfectly fit for the Gemini spot. The yellow air sign typically signifies duos and pairs. The mask and his wearer together match well with Gemini’s traits of curiosity, adaptability, and kindness.

Cancer - Tiny Tiger

Tiny Tiger emerges from two doors, snarling at Crash Bandicoot.

Cancers are endlessly loyal to their friends. They're also more than a little bit dorky. People who identify with the water sign are said to be imaginative and tenacious, always coming back for more. To those unfamiliar with Tiny Tiger that might not seem like it fits him, but it does.

Tiny is Neo Cortex's most loyal minion. Despite initially having more loyalty to N. Brio, he ultimately remains Cortex's right hand for the series. He's also kind of a sensitive and odd guy with special interests. Being a reoccurring boss with intense loyalty and an almost dorky facade he covers with his size, he makes a good Cancer.

Leo - Neo Cortex

Crash Bandicoot 4's Neo Cortex is pulling a pose in a mad laboratory.

It may be surprising for some to see the franchise’s resident villain as Leo. Leos are highly emotional, creative, passionate, generous, and have a good sense of humor about them. They certainly don’t seem to be a mad scientist responsible for the events of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

However, Leos can sometimes be seen as self-centered due to their pride, and their emotions don't always have to be the friendly ones. Cortex is a self-aggrandizing scientist with a large hammy streak. It’s as frequently sullen and introspective as he is confident and cocky. He’s even generous, having been the one to give Crash intelligence in the first place.

Virgo - N. Gin

N Gin, a ginger mad scientist, sits at a drum set in Crash 4.

A Virgo is loyal but also quite analytical astrological sign. In many ways, Virgo's can seem like a fusion between the traits of Cancer and Taurus. Loyalty and intelligence are both emphasized, but those traits can also be inverted. Virgos can be overly critical, off-putting, and put their work before themselves.

These characteristics may remind Crash fans of Neo Cortex's second assistant. N. Gin is a kind of inversion of Coco, being intelligent but also a twisted impression of Peter Lorre, who plays well against and with Cortex.  Thankfully, most Virgos spin their traits in a more positive direction.

Libra - Nitrus Brio

Crash Bandicoot 4's N. Brio holds potions in front of a giant eye.

Libras are known for being friendly and down to earth, but they can also sometimes hold onto grudges for a long time. They also avoid direct confrontations, which can be either positive or negative. This combination calls to mind N. Brio, who never encounters Crash without a potion or a minion on hand.

Nitrus Brio is Cortex's first minion from the original first Crash Bandicoot game.  He provides Cortex with the machines and formulae used to create animals like Crash. He demonstrates a lot of cooperation with Cortex and his assistants during this time, another trait of a Libra. Unfortunately, his partnership with Cortex doesn't last and he swears revenge on his former superior.

Scorpio - Dingodile

Dingodile comes out of a portal in Crash 4.

Dingodile is one of the most iconic bosses from the series. He has a bizarre character design, but his tough boss fights and memorable accent made him a standout for fans. He proved popular enough to be promoted to a playable character in Crash 4. In that game, he's a tricky character who requires expert use of his flamethrower to master.

He's also more than a little distrusting and violent. Despite being lumped in with the other antagonists, he doesn't always get along with them. Dingodile is a textbook Scorpio at the end of the day. He's resourceful and self-sufficient with his equipment, and his power and independence leads him to sometimes butt heads with others.

Sagittarius - Ripper Roo

Ripper Roo sits in a cart in front of a garage with his face on it.

A Sagittarius longs to be free. Their good sense of humor guides them to cast off their binds and throw caution to the wind. They embrace life with everything they have. Sagittarius' arrow falls squarely on characters like Ripper Roo.

Ripper Roo takes all the aforementioned traits to a new extreme. He's a bonafide cartoon character who madly bounces around rooms rather than just being good-humored. He's always trying to break the bonds of his jacket. Sagittarius and Ripper Roo both live life to bold and explosive extremes.

Capricorn - Crunch Bandicoot

Crunch Bandicoot flexes in Crash Bandicoot Team Racing.

Crunch was originally created to be an evil counterpart to Crash. He was meant to replace Crash as one of Cortex's generals and completely destroy the hero. Fortunately, he had a change of heart and turned into one of the good guys. He's now a somewhat vapid but well-meaning muscle-head firmly on the side of good.

Despite his name, Crush knows his strength and how to use it. He saw what Cortex was and decided to use his brawn for good. That's very Capricorn of him, as one of their biggest traits is responsibility and self-control. As soon as Crush had his own power to himself, he used it for good like the Earthly signs would.

Aquarius - Polar

Polar the polar bear cocks his head in a Crash Bandicoot trailer.

Polar isn't a major character in the franchise, but he's a fan favorite. He plays a big role in Crash Bandicoot 2, one of the best Crash Bandicoot games in the series. This little polar bear cub is a strong runner. Crash uses this to his advantage when he hitches a ride on Polar.

Aquarius is a sign representing independence and originality, but can sometimes be aloof. Furthermore, they're represented by the Water Bearer, which makes sense for a polar bear that likes to hang out around ice. He never speaks in his original design and is always out on his own.

Pisces - Nina Cortex

Nina Cortex looks nefarious in Crash Team Racing.

Pisces represents the new generation. Pisces have a variety of traits inside of them, and they can be artistic or even compassionate and gentle, but also have high intuition. They also have an affinity for the natural but can sometimes struggle to express their negative emotions.

The niece of Neo Cortex, Nina, has characterization that has somewhat swung back and forth over the years, but she is usually quite fond of the animals her uncle likes to use in his lab. She's also just as much of a genius as any of the other scientists in the series, able to bring new flair and ingenuity to mechanical threats.
