Is a New Crash Bandicoot Game Announcement Imminent?

Evidence is now pointing towards a new Crash Bandicoot game, with all of the signs indicating that a reveal will happen in the very near future.

Evidence is mounting for a new Crash Bandicoot title after a recent PlayStation commercial featured a mask that's never been seen before. The franchise has seen a major revitalization thanks to the release of a remake trilogy for the franchise dubbed the N-Sane Trilogy. The Crash Bandicoot collection has sold over 10 million units since its debut, making it one of the most successful franchises in Activision's arsenal. The company then followed the nostalgic entry up with a remake of Spyro the Dragon's original trilogy.

Since then, Activision has catered to fans of the bandicoot by releasing Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, with post-launch support that's still ongoing. While some gamers were upset that Activision added microtransactions to CTR after release, the title reviewed well and indicated well enough that the publisher is serious about fleshing out the world of Crash Bandicoot. Forutnately for fans, it would seem as if this initiative will go well beyond remakes.

A new live-action PlayStation ad that features a number of characters from first and third parties features a never-before-seen mask floating alongside Crash Bandicoot villain Neo Cortex, leading some to believe that its inclusion is a tease for a new game. This was pointed out by a Twitter user, that an artist responsible for the aforementioned Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Toys for Bob's Nicholas Kole, then used to seemingly tease fans with.

The mask itself is a major giveaway that something Crash-related is in the works, but other evidence has begun to surface as well. One of these is a brand-new render of Crash Bandicoot that was spotted on a bus by a Twitter user known as jumpbuttoncb. This render has never been seen before, which is immediately suspicious. Still, it's far from an out-right confirmation.

Other rumors are circulating about a title called Crash Bandicoot Worlds, but these claims remain largely unsubstantiated at this time. At the very least, it would appear that Activision has something starring Crash Bandicoot that it's eager to announce in the near future. Admittedly, a good venue to unveil a new Crash title would have to be The Game Awards 2019. After all, this was the same spot where Crash Team Racing was first revealed, so this means that it's not out of the question for Activision.
