The release of Crash Bandicoot 4 could pave the way way for the charaacter's leap onto PC in the near future. This comes hot on the heels after the recent reveal of the marsupial's latest adventure on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was announced at 2020's Summer Game Fest after leaks of the game's reveal and is the next platformer to join Crash's library. The trailer that was released shows Crash going through a variety of new levels, with new masks known as the Quantum Masks accompanying him and granting new abilities. Both the Gravity Mask and the Time Mask were shown in action in some portions, with the Gravity Mask allowing Crash to walk on walls and ceilings and the Time Mask allowing Crash to go through an area of flailing plants. The trailer also showcased both a playable Coco Bandicoot and Cortex, the latter having not been playable in a Crash platformer since Crash Twinsanity. The story appears to be a soft reboot of the franchise, with it taking place after the ending of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, with Cortex having been sent to the past and is now on his next scheme to plan Crash's doom.

Activision has released a statement to PCGamesN regarding the possibility of Crash 4 dropping on PC and other platforms in the future: "We are still evaluating platforms for a future date. Stay tuned for more information." While this doesn't confirm anything at the moment, it does suggest that Crash 4 will likely drop on PC and other platforms like the Nintendo Switch in the future, similarly to the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. At the very least, it gives PC fans hope they won't have to purchase another device to play through Crash's newest adventure.

Crash Bandicoot 4 Its About Time

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was first released on PS4 in June 2017. A year later, the game dropped on PC, Switch, and Xbox One. The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy became one of Switch's fastest selling games of 2018. The gamereceived lots of positive reception from fans for recapturing the same fun platforming action that the originals brought to the PS1. In 2019, Activision along with developer Beenox released a remaster of Crash Team Racing, known as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, which was also met with positive reception among fans, though the addition of microtransactions in the game was faced with harsh criticism from consumers.

Given the pattern of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it would make sense for Crash 4 to follow suit in the same way. The success of the trilogy on other platforms shows that there's no way Activision would ignore the money it would make them. For now though, fans can expect Crash 4 to drop on PS4 and Xbox One on October 2nd, 2020.
