While gamers around the world may be excited for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, many may be disappointed to hear that the game will apparently feature microtransactions. There is currently no official word on what these purchases will entail, so players will need to wait to see what Activision has planned for the long awaited Crash Bandicoot game.

The classic Crash Bandicoot series has been experiencing something of a resurgence as of late. The remakes of the N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing were very well received upon release. Both remakes seemed to reignite fan interest in the series to the point that rumors began circulating early this year that another Crash game was on the horizon, culminating in a significant leak of the game's announcement. That speculation was proven true just last week, when it was revealed during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest that Crash Bandicoot 4 will release on consoles on October 2nd of this year.

Fan excitement is mounting for the new Crash Bandicoot game, but new information regarding microtransactions may put a damper on that. VG247 reports that the official Microsoft Store page for the game states that there will be an option for in-game purchases in the game. Right at the bottom of the page there is a small addendum that reveals that fact, but doesn't give any additional information as to what that will mean for players. Activision as well has yet to comment on what kinds of things players will be able to purchase in Crash Bandicoot 4.

Crash Bandicoot 4 Its About Time

The Microsoft Store listing does mention that those who pre-order the game will be given a special skin for both Crash and Coco. This could mean that all in-game purchases will be cosmetic in nature, and players will be able to buy new skins for their characters. There is also supposed to be an online leaderboard component to the game, so its possible that these skins and cosmetic items could be used for players to show off their version of Crash to others. It should also be noted that these purchases could be hinting towards for future DLC for the game as well.

At the end of the day though ideas about the in-game purchases in Crash Bandicoot 4 are all speculation at this time. There is no indication as to what they could actually mean, or how the majority of players will respond. Either way Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is shaping up to be a very fun looking game that will let players jump back in the jorts of their favorite marsupial once again.
