Minecraft is over a decade old at this point, but it is far from abandoned. With one of its most recent updates focusing on the Nether, the game received several additional materials and recipes. One of the more noticeable additions is the existence of soul fire, an otherworldly cyan flame that deals more damage than regular fire and can be generated in some of the update's new crafting recipes.
One of these added recipes is the soul campfire, an eerie-looking construct that burns with a cyan flame. Using soul soil as one of its components, the soul campfire is mostly used is an alternative to the regular campfire.
The Materials and Recipe For a Soul Campfire in Minecraft
The recipe for a soul campfire calls for 3 materials:
- 3 Sticks: Can be found in the overworld by breaking tree leaves or dead bushes. Or it can be crafted by using logs.
- 1 Soul Sand/Soul Soil: Both can be found in the Nether as a form of dirt block. Although soul soil is the rarer material of the two since it is usually restricted to one of the Nether's new biomes.
- 3 of Any Wood/Log: Can be found in a variety of biomes in the overworld and can come in a variety of forms (ex. Oak, birch, spruce, etc.). Usually by harvesting a tree with either the player’s fist or an axe. These logs can then be converted into stripped logs and another woodblock by using the crafting table. But regular logs are the easiest to attain.
The organization of these materials is very reminiscent of the recipe for the regular campfire. The sticks will be arranged in an upside-down V formation, the wood will line the bottom row and the soul sand/soul soil will be inserted in the middle.
The Functions of a Soul Campfire in Minecraft
It can do all that the campfire can do. It can cook raw meats placed on it, provide light and emit smoke signals. But it should be noted that is inferior to the normal campfire when it comes to light production since the soul campfire is noticeably dimmer.
The most defining feature of a soul campfire is how it can be used to repel piglin, making it ideal for anyone who wants to build in the Nether without having piglin everywhere. But it should be noted that this repel ability only works if the piglin is not attacking the player.
