Piper Perabo claims Tyra Banks is pushing for a Coyote Ugly reboot twenty-one years after the original movie was released in theaters. Coyote Ugly is an iconic Y2K movie that starred Perabo and Banks along with Maria Bello, Isabella Miko, and Bridget Moynahan. The film is adapted from an article by Elizabeth Gilbert, a former bartender at the real-life Coyote Ugly bar. It follows Violet Sandford (Perabo) as she tries to succeed as a singer/songwriter in New York City. She finds a job at Coyote Ugly before she is almost forced to abandon her big-city dreams after a string of bad luck leaves her jobless and heartbroken. Violet returns to the city with a new drive and manages to get a record deal.

The movie is a staple in any early 2000s movie-watching venture and has a fantastic wardrobe that might make modern audiences nostalgic for the fashion. Another huge draw of the film includes the music and musical numbers that are incorporated throughout. A significant aspect of the film consists of the cast dancing and singing karaoke on the Coyote Ugly bar top in addition to Violet's original songs sung by LeAnn Rimes.

During Perabo's appearance on "The Talk," (via ET Canada) a reboot of the film may be in development soon. Perabo says Tyra Banks, an industry powerhouse with a long career in making new projects happen, is at the head of the reboot venture. Perabo does not confirm the reboot is happening, saying, "I can't say everything about what's going on," but heavily suggests it is in active development. Read Perabo's full comment below.

“Tyra wants to do it. So when Tyra gets something in her head, you can’t really shake it loose. So she is pushing and she is pushing with all her might.”

Reboots are becoming quite common in the movie industry. Movies and TV shows from the 90s and early 2000s are especially being brought back into the limelight for new audiences to discover, like Will Smith's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot. There is a great deal of nostalgia that comes with these older pieces of media but bringing back shows or films for the sake of nostalgia usually ends up with a product that is disappointing because it either doesn't live up to the original, or it is so vastly different from the original that the audience feels cheated.

What a Coyote Ugly reboot would look like is unknown. Considering Violet had achieved her dream by the film's conclusion, perhaps a reboot would include a version of 'Where Are They Now?' for the characters. The real-life Coyote Ugly in New York City, or one of its other worldwide locations, might pick a new muse to have dance and sing on their beloved countertops. Whatever the film may end up looking like, it will indeed have great music.
