The Last Airbender Star Joins 'Cowboys & Aliens'

Noah Ringer joins the cast of Jon Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens

Jon Favreau has Iron Man 2 coming up next month, but he's already setting his sights on another big-budget comic book movie, the bluntly titled Cowboys & Aliens. The film already has a few of its stars including Daniel Craig (who came aboard when Robert Downey Jr. left for Sherlock Holmes 2), Olivia Wilde and most recently, Harrison Ford.

Now we're hearing word of the cast of Cowboys & Aliens growing by one: The Last Airbender himself, Noah Ringer, has joined the production, with his role yet to be revealed. Likely he'll play one of the humans (well, cowboys) battling against the invading aliens. We'll keep you informed of what exactly his role is when the info gets released.

We've yet to see Ringer in action in a feature-length movie, with only the various trailers and TV spots for The Last Airbender to judge him on. I know there's been less than favorable reception from fans of the original Nickelodeon cartoon to Ringer playing the role of Aang - but as far as I'm concerned, he looks kick ass in the role and I can't wait to see more of him.

Noah Ringer as Aang in The Last Airbender

One notable thing about Ringer in The Last Airbender however, is that so far we've barely heard him utter a line of dialogue. At the end of the latest trailer and TV spots he says, "I don't deserve their praise," but that's it. Either he's been cast in Cowboys & Aliens because he impressed with his action scenes or there's a great young actor in there we just haven't had a chance to see properly yet.

I personally suspect it's a combination of both.

Are you glad to see Ringer going on to snag a role in another big action movie?

Cowboys & Aliens is supposed to start shooting this July and has an official release date of July 29th, 2011.

Ringer can next (and first) be seen in M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, which opens on July 2nd, 2010.
